Volleyball tryouts in real time

She tried out for four clubs between Friday and Saturday (including her former club) and doesn’t have any offers. She’s confused and upset going into Sundays tryouts for her final “backup” clubs. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or success stories? I don’t know how to stay positive for her bc She’s been working so hard all Fall and this process is causing so much stress. It seems like there is no loyalty in clubs whatsoever and in the mob of 100+ girls she just can’t stand out.

Omg I could have written this post. U16 DD. Solid player. Two years of club, did all the things, attended clinics, got feedback and applied. It’s Sunday evening and NO offers after going to 5 club try outs since Friday, including her former club. What is going on? Are certain girls just collecting offers and not declining? My DD has no idea what to do. Is there no loyalty at all?!?

Read other prior posts. NO loyalty in volleyball

It’s quiet over here to with DD U16. Tried out for 3 clubs, got on callback and had that today, and then we added one more club to try out tomorrow in case everything falls apart. But the silence and wait today is excruciating. Maybe Sports Engine crashed?

You might be right about some players collecting offers and being slow to decide, so maybe there will be some movement tomorrow and Tuesday.

Keep watching club social media accounts - I saw MDJRs was still trying to fill spots on their younger teams that tried out last weekend as of a couple days ago.

As far as loyalty, I understand it can be frustrating to not get an offer from the club your DD played for last year, but the same as many players look to move clubs for a variety of reasons, clubs look to switch things up for a variety of reasons too.

Good luck!

New parents what has your experience been like this weekend? How would you describe it?

For those that received and accepted offers last week and paid their deposits - have you heard anything back from your clubs? Has your team coach emailed you? Have you been added to the team in Sports Engine? What should I expect as a parent new to this? I didn't receive an email back once I accepted via email and paid the $$$ deposit. Sent a follow up email with a scheduling question and nothing yet.

Its the busiest time for clubs, and most of them are still wrapping up the second round of tryouts. That said, you usually get an email back confirming acceptance, but sometimes they miss you and you have to reach out to them again. Wednesday everything calms down a bit.

We’ve already gotten several emails about practice, tournament schedule, etc.

We are still waiting to see who is on the roster on our Platform team. We have not become part of a new team on SportsEngine, even though we accepted the assignment through SportsEngine. We learned that we would have a parent meeting during the weekend, when we will meet our teammates. My DD knows a lot of players from last season / summer programs and she is very curious who else will be on the roster. But we will show some patience because the club is busy with the second round of tryouts right now (for the 15+ players).

We got a personal email and then a email to the entire team letting us know the roster and a date for a tentative team meeting. The coaches also let us know the club was busy with tryouts this weekend and although they had the tentative practice schedule on the website, the start date was still being finalized since some were asking if it would be sooner. Nothing is set up in Sports Engine or any other app yet.

This is kind of amusing. Where is the loyalty from the club as my kid tries out for other clubs. Loyalty is kind of a 2 way street.

Vienna Elite just announced a new “gray team” for 15/16s who want to play a step above rec but who didn’t make any travel club teams. Tryouts are tomorrow. There will be “rotating coaches” and 9 girls age 15 and 9 girls age 16. All will practice together.

Not sure what to think of this.

Demand is outstripping supply by so much that they are leaving some very good players on the table unclaimed.
No one wants to see that. Good for them for giving ore players a shot.

How much are they charging for that?

I looked it up quickly earlier and think it was 3K.
Interesting! I was going to send to a couple of my U15 daughter’s friends that aren’t set yet. But it’s far from us.
