The real Matty Healy

I can relate. I live in LA and have run into Matty twice this past year. Unfortunately, he just does it for me. I too would ruin myself for that man, but I am sure he’d find me boring and would be gone by the morning 😭😂

BBC iPlayer. A couple of their full Glasto songs were uploaded by BBC on YouTube too, but not the full 100-minute set.

Snow on the beach is, 100%

I think so. The eye description is definitely Matty’s: “But your eyes are flying saucers from another planet.” Also in Question, “half-moon eyes.” The 1, Glitch, Endgame and Death by a Thousand Cuts are for him too.

He's been her muse for a decade. It's sort of tragic all around. For all of the posters saying Glastonbury was a great performance, it was safe and mediocre compared to many or most of his past performances. Watch the BFIAFL show on Amazon from Madison square gardens or better yet the one from the release show of that album on YouTube.

I think a legacy Taylor left him is stealing most of his charisma in addition to taking so much 1975 sounds and ideas/lyrics particularly on her last album. I think they both traumatized each other in the end.

Wow. I started this thread 2 yrs ago.
I went down a 1975 rabbit hole after Taylor showed up to play 2 songs winter 2023 at a 1975 show. Not a big fan of hers but was planning to take my kid to Eras and had been more interested in her after watching her documentary. Weirdly I started thinking why the heck isn't she dating Matty Healy after I developed a middle age crush on the man. Imagine my shock when that happened a few months later.
The thing is he's an ass. He is charming and adorable and bright and funny and a talented writer, but he is a pig to women. The way he acted at the end of the summer was god awful. And he morphs like she does with partners, changing his look and personality. They are twin flames in a way, but his behavior ultimately ended my crush thank god. Now that he is aging, he isn't so cute anymore. And Taylor did steal most of his rizz, as mentioned above. I don't think she is that into Travis though, nor do I think Matty is that into his fiancé. Not in the way they were into each other. Twin flames and all that...

I didn’t get it at first and was convinced that Taylor and Travis would break up quickly. But now I get it. Travis is the anti-Matty, and frankly, Joe, for that matter.

Joe was intensely private, depressed, wouldn't marry her and called her out on her drama. (Just listen to the lyrics of her various songs). She has admitted that she is a handful and “I wouldn’t marry me either.”

Matty is a drug addict, immature and dramatic (much like Taylor), and ghosted her after making her believe that she was “The One.” The one he has loved forever and talked about marriage right away.

Travis is the opposite of both of her past loves who hurt her very deeply. He doesn’t mind being seen in public with her (in fact he seems to like it). While Joe would run into restaurants and hide, Travis is very protective of her when he is with her. Matty and Joe look wimpy and uncaring in comparison.

And Travis is simple. He isn’t a “tortured poet.” He doesn’t play games, he just is who he is. I don’t think he minds her drama. He probably lets it roll right off him. He is also very close to his family, just like Taylor. I’m sure they talk about marriage and kids and he is up for it. Travis was exactly what she needed.

Oh please. He is a hairy, overweight Midwestern jock who barely finished high-school. She would drop him in a hot second if Matty Healy were to return her calls. And I don’t even like Matty, but let’s be real here. An artist who has a way with words could not be intellectually satisfied with a Travis in the long run.
Intelligent women don’t need “simple” men to have babies with in the 21st century; billionaire women even less so.

He is dyslexic. He is very well liked in the NFL and a leader on his team. He is a philanthropist…And clearly more emotionally intelligent than you.

lol. We have ears, dear. He’s very clearly ~ 85 to 90 IQ. His jock older brother is not exactly a rocket scientist and runs circles around Travis intellectually.

+100. He both influenced and inspired many of her best songs across 6 albums starting with Reputation. “All those nights you kept me going, swirled you into all of my poems.”
I believe he helped her with song writing too. They recorded music together, e.g. collaborating on Midnights, which he admitted in an interview. They share Jack Antonoff as a producer. Matty has a very high music IQ + a huge vinyl collection and likely introduced her to old bands she didn’t know, for example “he sent me Downtown Lights”, or The Starting Line she mentions in The Black Dog etc. I also think she became politically active because of how vocal and woke Matty and The 1975 are.

The pain she and her fans caused him made me lose my respect for her. She wanted both her brand/image/billions/fame and him, but those things cannot coexist. So he made the choice for her.

You sound as crazy as a Swiftie. You are doing a lot of heavy lifting to try and defend a racist drug addict.

I saw A Complete Unknown with one of my dds who said afterward "Bob Dylan was the original white hipster boy seducing women with a guitar." Yup. Just like Matty

I am sure it was super intriguing to Matty to steal Bob Dylan's grandson's girlfriend and make her his fiance

He is a woke leftist, the opposite of a racist. He is also an atheist, and that’s a positive in my book. Intelligent too.
As for drugs, many artists, celebs and people in general experiment with them in their youth. I applaud him for overcoming his addicition.
I stand by what I said about his influence on TS. Without him, her songs would sound like So High School - boring and forgettable.
