is this really the best use of national taxpayer resources and military personnel?

That is absolutely absurd. But sure, the NG can install some bike lanes. That would be great.

Howzabout you democrats in DC take some pride and clean up your city instead of depending on outsiders to do it? Have you no f'n shame?

Nobody wants the NG here so we are perfectly happy for them to go away.

The people on my DC block want the NG here. Gasp!

No, they really do. Our PSA has been getting hammered the last few years. You need to get out of the echo chamber.

If DC was such a hell scape, then why do Trump's wealthiest cabinet members live in DC. Hell, Stephen Miller lives in DC. If it was so dangerous you would think he'd live in VA. DC is one of the most educated cities in the country. Logic should tell you that people do not live in fear here.

The places with the most crime is seeing very few federal troops. Make that make sense.

Pro tip: “Beautiful” cities do not look up dish soap behind cages.

Y’all have been living with high levels of crime so long you don’t even see it anymore.

Yup, no crime at all in your beautiful rural GOP towns.

Did you read the part where he was sentenced to 18 years in prison and forfeited his house? That’s the rural town difference.

Whereas in DC he would get more wrap around services and an ankle bracelet that is neither charged or monitored.

September 8 crime report. 5 murders since August 12 when the NG came in, compared to a 14 murders a month average before then. Even if someone gets killed in the next 4 days that will still be cutting the murder rate by 115% or more. If this current rate holds for a year we’d see 60 to 72 murders a year, a historic low.

And the rate was already plummeting and that is a one month data point.

I literally do not believe you. Our block also had an upswing of post covid crime and even the crankiest cranks who rant about Charles Allen ceaselessly on the neighborhood listserv are furious about the national guard.

You need to be open to the fact that your city is more diverse that you understand.

Ah, statistics. How many months are are you use to get the average of 14/month? And when you include the 5 for this month what is the average? Still 14, right?

Do you have the murder stats for May, June, and July? How do they compare to cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Boston on a per capita basis?

I’d love to see these plummeting murder stats, because there were 100 murders as of August 11 in a city of 700,000.

Boston had 17 murders in 2025 as of June 30. Boston has 675,000 people. This is what DC should be aiming for.

100 divided by 7 (January-July) is 14.2

Not complicated.

Right? Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont all allow permitless constitutional carry. It’s the Wild West up there. Live free or die.
