For those saying "tariffs solved everything back to normal"
Headline: WALMART CFO SAYS PRICE HIKES FROM TARIFFS COULD START LATER THIS MONTH Once those prices go up, they are not coming back down. |
+1 people get used to the high prices; corporations won't bring down the prices again. We saw that with covid, too. |
First shoe from Walmart.
And this despite Donnie boy’s so-called “deal” with China. Just in time for Memorial Day. Good job, MAGA! All about the economy, amirite? May 15 (Reuters) - Walmart (WMT.N), opens new tab, the world's largest retailer, will have to start raising prices later this month due to the high cost of tariffs, executives said on Thursday, in a clear signal that U.S. President Donald Trump's trade war is filtering through to the American economy https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/walmart-warns-higher-prices-withholds-second-quarter-profit-guidance-2025-05-15/ |
Earlier today, WalMart stopped short of this, but now are out and open with it. I guess the private sector wants to challenge the Congress to take its tariff responsibilities seriously. |
OMG! You mean I have to pay 10 cents more for my daughter’s push pop toys just so some poors can get some factories back in Youngstown and Baltimore?! What the wrong with these MAGA loons? I want to more of these losers high and out of work!! |
So Democrats are :checks notes: wanting public officials to craft policy based on WalMart press releases?
Oh, okay. I need to reanimate Mario Cuomo and bring him and people like him back. You neocon, free market, country club “Democrats” make me sick. |
What are you talking about? Do you even know? No factories are going to be built anywhere as a result of Trump’s tariff insanity. All that will happen is inflation. |
No. Democrats don’t agree with this unwarranted tax hike that Trump has imposed. |
https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/us-manufacturing-domestic-tariffs/ What you said isn’t true. |
So no new factories are going to be built anywhere in American in the next four years? Are you off your meds today? Serious question. |
So tariffs, which do not all fall on the consumer and are dealt with by the foreign seller and American retailer, are a tax on American consumers but :checks notes: when Democrats propose corporate tax hikes those taxes would never, ever trickle down to American consumers. Got it. Makes perfect sense. |
Apart from the Cra-Z-Art factory and Chobani (and we have plenty of dairy industry in the US as it is), those are all high tech, pharmaceuticals, and auto manufacturing. Which we should be increasing in the US and we already have a fair bit of in the US as well. But factories for “plastic push pop toys” or whatever you’re ranting about aren’t coming to the US, and even if they did, the prices would not go up by 10 cents. |
The factories will not be coming to Youngstown or anywhere else. |
