FCPS is turning the new high school purchased to fix crowding into an Aviation magnet school instead of a high school??

No, Scenario A keeps Fox Mill ES in South Lakes while sending almost everyone else at Carson to KAA.

That’s the one a lot of Oakton parents probably want. But it splits Fox Mill Estates between South Lakes and the new school right? They will not like that.

In Option C and D, what is the school that stays at Westfield?

If they are giving rising 8th,9th and 10th graders a chance to stay at their high school, it gives the parents of kids currently in elementary school time to figure out an alternative if that is what they want.That also means no students currently at CVHS will have to transfer.

That's not realistic, with transportation.

I am an Oakton parent and I don't want my kids to be the only ones at their middle school that go to a different high school. If they have Option B, then they need to send Crossfield kids to Franklin Middle School.

It would make more sense to make that island Oak Hill/Franklin/Western HS than keep them Navy/Franklin/Oakton while the rest of the neighborhood goes to Western HS. People with kids at Navy now/who went there recently want to keep things as is but it stinks for future kids to be an island at every school level.

All 4 scenarios have the exact same areas moving to Westfield from Chantilly and Centreville boundaries.

The maps are not clear as in cannot see the street names. Anyone have a more clear map?

No, what you mean is that is the one the Crossfield parents with older kids who want to stay at Oakton want. We are a Crossfield/Oakton family and like every option except B. Oakton will be overcrowded by the next 5 year cycle if they don't do something. Moving Crossfield now at least gets us into KAA. Otherwise I think we'll have to be moved to South Lakes instead in 5 years because there won't be room anywhere else. I don't want to deal with IB and deciding whether or not to pupil place my kids away from their friends.

That’s Floris ES splitting between KAA and Westfield.

Part of Floris, I think.

And the rest of Oakton's unaffected families are probably indifferent or happy to have a less crowded school for a few years.

And there are a lot of areas much closed to CVHS.

I will try to provide an overview and if people have corrections I'll make them. All enrollment numbers are based on September 2024 enrollment.

Scenario A:

* Centreville enrollment declines from 2310 to 1957. Bull Run area at Centreville moves to Westfield.
* Chantilly enrollment declines from 2916 to 2225. Oak Hill moves to Western and parts of Brookfield and Cub Run move to Westfield
* Oakton enrollment declines from 2601 to 2165. Navy island and Oakton part of Crossfield move to Western.
* Westfield enrollment declines from 2710 to 2407. Coates, Floris, and McNair move to Western and parts of Centreville and Chantilly move to Westfield (described above).
* Western 9-12 enrollment: 1792

Scenario B:

* Centerville - same as Scenario A
* Chantilly - same as Scenario A
* South Lakes enrollment declines from 2410 to 2040. Fox Mill moves to Western
* Westfield - same as Scenario A
* Western 9-12 enrollment: 1726

Scenario C:

* Centreville - same as Scenario A
* Chantilly - appears same as Scenario A but FCPS shows enrollment declining to 2218
* Oakton - same as Scenario A
* South Lakes enrollment declines from 2410 to 2002. Fox Mill and South Lakes part of Crossfield move to Western
* Westfield enrollment declines from 2710 to 2472. Coates, McNair, and part (but not all) of Floris move to Western
* Western 9-12 enrollment: 2142

Scenario D:

* Centreville - same as Scenario A
* Chantilly - same as Scenario C
* Oakton enrollment declines from 2601 to 2239. Oakton part of Crossfield (but not Navy island) moves to Western.
