Missing college student in the Dominican Republic from Ashburn

I wonder how closely resort employees (and neighboring resort employees) have been looked at.

It would be quite easy for employees to notify an outsider “hey- super drunk kids heading down to the beach” (where there are no cameras- easy target). Employees would also know how to evade security and cameras coming up/down from the beach. Wait for Josh (looks like a huge guy, who even drunk as he was, they may not want to tangle with) to pass out and then she is easy pickings. It could even be the original idea was just to rob her/them but something went amiss.

Is it the most likely scenario? No. But really, it would not be that difficult to kidnap a small, drunk, girl alone from the beach & not be seen.

DR will protect resorts
Resorts include personnel, materials, video malfunctioning etc..

Video shows the beach is some distance from the resort. She was alone and unprotected and visibly impaired.

I don't see anywhere on there that kidnapping wealthy American tourists for sex trafficking is a thing. The whole point of sex trafficking is taking people who no one is going to make a fuss over, or who maybe no one will even notice is missing. An American college student is not that.

This isn't an American tourist in fact the title should be missing college student from India

She came here with her parents as an infant but lived all of her life here, went from preschool to high-school school here, was attending college here and was a permanent resident.

But she's somehow still an Indian citizen, and not an American.

I don’t believe India allows dual citizenship.

I mean, she could have been abducted by aliens. Please stop with ridiculous “what if’s”.

When people say DR is relatively safe at the resorts (even for drunk foolish college kids)- they are probably mostly right. The resorts are full of cameras, beaches with people everywhere, transportation to/from the hotel or tourist places/excursions is generally prearranged and regulated.

But to wander around very drunk in public (and that is what the beach is), in the middle of the night….is not the same thing. Basically serving yourself up on a silver platter. Which is true in many places, even most places in the US. Tremendously dangerous

And I’m definitely no fan of the DR.

She probably did indeed drown. But I can see why other options are being explored as well.

She is a permanent legal resident who haas lived in NoVa since she was a toddler. US Feds and VA LE are heavily involved in the search.

Not sure is ignorance or racism prompted your post.

How have they kept completely out of the conversation?

I’m surprised there were no other witnesses, or that has not been reported or shared. In one article I read, it says 2 of the other students came back up from the beach at 5AM (per video cameras). Were they were with this couple until that time? And did she disappear after 5AM then? And Josh would’ve been out there from 5AM- nearly 9AM until he was captured on camera coming up from the beach. Because IME these resorts start coming to life pretty early in the morning- workers cleaning the beach (of seaweed and any trash), setting up beach chairs, super early walkers/runners on the beach, people going to scout for a good spot and put towels down, beach vendors setting up, etc. Maybe not at 5AM but 6AM? And definitely many people would’ve seen Josh passed out in the AM since he didn’t come in until nearly 9.

Yeah I kinda have a problem with this. You refuse to be a citizen but use resources for citizens. If they are so loyal to India then they need to be petitioning India for help and resources. The United States is not good enough for them?

(I was a permanent resident too and obtained my US Citizenship as soon as I turned 18.)

+1

And Loudoun County bring there is ridiculous.

One story on socials is that a bartender was interested in her and said he’d meet her down at the beach. Something could have been slipped in her drink and wrestler’s, even more common there than here and known to have happened at that particular resort before. That may explain why only those two were vomiting. Lots of things could have been in play. Wrestler might not have been aware of what was going on around him in bar or on beach after he was unconscious. People are always watching and many report getting laced drinks in resorts. The black and white thinking here is childish.

It’s also possible she od’d on something and collapsed, he was so much bigger it just knocked him out. Not something they knowingly took even. Very pretty girl with trashed guy headed to very remote beach area with no cameras, silver platter. And it all could have been set in play by others.

Barney Fife needs to flash around his badge. Can't imagine what this clown show is costing Loudoun County.
