1,000 hours is NOT a lot for a mid-career pilot, and certainly not an instructor pilot. 500 hrs is definitely not “well-qualified”. Typical Fox News getting it wrong again. The pilots flying the local TV news choppers in DC that you see traffic reports from typically have 6,000+ plus hours. The pilot in Baltimore for Channel 11 has almost 20,000 hours. So a thousand hours is pretty low.

It is for fighter pilots and helicopters.

The Helo very likely DID drop someone (or multiple someones) at Langley. That is not a conspiracy theory - it's common. PAT25 (The Helo call sign) literally stands for Priority Air Transport.

These are softball questions. Obviously the reporter meant the site of the recovery efforts. the "collision site" can encompass the entire area, not simply the point in space where the aircraft collided.

But more to the point, this is an opportunity for him to praise the first responders, explain the importance of the effort to recover information that will help us find out what happened and how to prevent it from happening again, and once again express condolences to the families. In other words, an easy opportunity to look/be presidential.

But he's a nasty POS with a personality disorder, so instead he's unnecessarily combative.

And the USAF 1st Helicopter Squadron from Andrews uses the call sign “Muscle”. Like “Muscle 2-8” or “Muscle 5-1”.

Exactly. I’m sure the government wants this overlooked so the story doesn’t focus on the fact a vip did not want to deal with traffic.

Why would a training flight use a call sign for TRANSPORT?

Here’s Tammy Duckworth’s interview. She set up a good narrative about how flying a helicopter is set up.

The crew chief is in the back. The instructor pilot (the one with 1000+ hrs) was the co-pilot in this case and he would have been the one talking to ATC. While the pilot on the controls and doing all the flying is the one ”sticking to the route” and using all 4 limbs to do that. In this case the pilot was the one being evaluated by the more senior co-pilot. So the person you could hear in the recording is most likely the co-pilot/instructor, not the actual pilot flying the plane

This still means that BOTH pilots got confused/mistaken about which plane they were giving "visual separation" to. Hopefully one day we will know why.

If you start researching, you’ll see a lot of foreign people own houses around here and some remain empty for years as in Potomac.

Saudis have been buying up the houses on chain bridge road overlooking the Potomac for a few years now. Kind of mysterious as they try very hard to keep their identities hidden for the transactions. They even bought the Robb property after the fire - who knows what they’re up but it’s pretty nice (and nicely positioned) real estate
