In 2016-17, will the U12 DA teams be composed of 2004 players or 2005 ones? [/quote

We were told in Arlington that 2004=U13 and 2005=U12.

That makes sense because I was told my 2008 kid would be a new U-9 next year.

It seems strange my child will never be 12 the entire two seasons she plays u-12. She will still be 10 when next Fall's season starts. And she will be playing U-13 when she is still 11 Fall of 2017.

That's why it is U12 -- Under 12. My kid is in the same boat -- late Dec. 2005 birthday.

since everyone is in the same boat--it's a non-issue. you just have to think about years. They should really stop calling it 'U-anything' and just start calling them '2005s', 2004s, etc.

The DA is going to be one year off from everyone else. Next year only. Then they'll fix it.

The "U-anything" matters because it dictates which game you play -- 9v9, 11v11, etc.

I was told my 2005 son will be U-11 next year. The 2006 will play another year of U-10

No -- that's outdated info. Because you're talking about U-11, I assume you're not talking about Development Academy. Your 2005 son will play U-12 in the fall.

Thanks. Yes, you are correct.

What do you do when you hate your travel team, but you still have March-June left to play with them?

These contracts suck.

Are you kidding?! What other club in the DMV is a crazy sh*t show! It is a 3 ring circus and I heard rumor that one of their main clowns (field coordinator) was just let go dt shortage of funds. That should have happened a long time ago. She definitely was a negative contribution to the cancer that has taken over that club. Board members have even pulled their own kids out and have gone to other clubs. It made me crazy.... this new board takes over, "restructures" eliminating a technical staff that was creating a club my kids were excited to play for and with... tears down everything they had built, spent more money than our club EVER put out, basically destoyed us and then they bail??!! They should take ownership of this mess! Or just realize when enough is enough and pass the baton before Vienna loses the club altogether
My only advice is dont worry about the contract. Do what I did and cut your losses and take your child to a club where he can thrive before VYS turns them off the the game all together.

I have to agree! We are in the same boat. Its unfortunate. We were disappointed when the changes started but committed to giving the new structure a chance. We never dreamed it would be this dysfunctional. We have been extremely disappointed in the trainers, they are not as skilled or effective as they used to be in VYS. Also, many of the programs have been eliminated, yet we are paying higher fees?! One program that is especially missed is friday night lights that Lima got started! dont know how much longer we will be here. My son has started asking not to go to his training. I think it is time to follow the others joining other clubs and realize it is not going to get better.

It isn't Vienna, but seeing what you two described-maybe we don't have it so bad.

So, U8 rec players born in 07 will be trying out for U10 travel teams against nearly full teams of players who already played 1 year (2 seasons) of travel at U9. U9 rec players born in 06 will tryout with U9 and U10 players born in 06 for U11. That seems a little sad.

Yes. I have one that benefits from this--early '08 and one that doesn't --late '05 that has to jump from u-10 to u-12. I think for the younger kids it will be fine because they have plenty of time to develop. The older kids are harmed more.

Huh. I hadn't heard about the Field Assignor. So now are they going to pawn that hellish job off on some unsuspecting volunteer? I agree that she wasn't the best person to deal with, but there's no way I'd do that for free (and I was stupid enough to be a House Commissioner for a LONG time).
