Why would the board allow this man to have alone time with a student at a baseball game?

Teachers and staff were not to be allowed alone with students anymore yet JC was allowed with students for outplacement meetings. The buck must stop somewhere - where were Governing Board members during these times? Where does the buck stop? Seriously asking.

This is false. The outplacement meetings were with the parents. Kids were not involved. JC would discuss the kids with their teachers. This makes total sense since the teachers spend hours every day with these kids.

He met with some students alone. Whether he should have or should not have may be the question.

Seems like we don’t have agreement on the facts.

Your facts are incorrect and not facts - you sound like a complete ass for taking such a stance assuming you would actually know what happened for his entire tenure at the school. I know for certain he met in his office with at least a few students alone. Your insistence on saying he did not - as if you would be certain that 80 plus kids a year for multiple yeas (hundreds of kids) never were alone with him in his office is ridiculous. I will believe the people who actually were there over you.

For what purpose would he/did he meet with students alone at Beauvoir? It's not like 3rd graders are in charge of their own application process.

You’re the only one who doesn’t already know.

What does this mean? You can't just throw out questions without context. Noone know what you are talking about. Please clarify.

What baseball game? And wouldn’t they have been surrounded by people at a baseball game?

The Board doesn't "allow" that. The child's parent chooses to purchase the opportunity at the auction. The parents had complete control over whether they chose to send their kid off with the HOS on a non-school outing.

There are countless NCRC apologists on this thread who can’t seem to fathom that there was a culture that ignored red flag or didn’t follow proper procedures all the time (this is different than saying people knew JC was a pedo and ignored that). It’s fine that current and alum parents believe this. But what I believe is going to happen is that they will completely clean house at NCRC and get rid of a ton of administrators who were there under JC’s tenure. Maybe it’s my MBA speaking, but this would be a standard reaction to a scandal this big and this gross. Current families might see the “magic” of NCRC, but remember they need to recruit new families…new families need a lot of reassurance when it comes to where they are sending their very young children.

There are not a "ton of administrators" at NCRC to get rid of.

Your MBA was worthless if it taught you to make diagnoses and preach to others without first gathering real facts (not facts from situations you presume, but don't know, to be analogous).

I'm guessing, but perhaps it means that preliminary matters have been completed and it's been referred to an associate judge?

JC absolutely met individually with kids at Beauvoir. But I also know that he did not meet with them all and that was never clear to me why some and not others. There was some vague reason that some would need more coaching for their visits at the next schools but I was not sure why that was his role. There were some parents who thought JC was amazing and that he would ‘hold your hand throughout the process” but we thought he was cold and aloof and just not interested. I never understood the love. Now I hear what these other posters are saying about culture and grooming and I feel sick. I wish I had understood that more because there were red flags that I see now.

Not a JC apologist —horrified by him—but this is actually standard for kids to practice one-on-one interviews with the admissions office since interviews are part of the admissions process. And yes some kids are totally fine at interviews and don’t need practice while others needs a lot of coaching.
