Only thing I know is that they are all drunk idiots who need to go to AA. |
Even though the standard of proof is lower in the civil trial, the O’Keefe’s will have a tougher time prevailing over Karen now that there is so much evidence available that John was not hit by a car.
I wonder if they’ll try to settle with Karen’s insurance company rather than go to a trial, now that they’ve seen the compelling evidence. They could walk away with nothing if the civil trial jury sees the evidence the same way this jury did. |
Those angry folks trying to equate Caesy Anthony and OJ Simpson to Karen Read strike me as very uniformed.
And I think particularly so on the civil trial side. Yes, OJ lost the civil trial. The reasons he was found not guilty as vastly different than in Karen Read's situation. And so the civil trial will likely be different too - there is simply so much evidence it wasn't a car, and so much shadiness from other parties. I hope there is a settlement. |
Lmao I know that. I also know that you can’t drag a phone under someone’s body 🤦🏻♀️ so I thought it was implied they put it under him when they got him by the flagpole. |
There are so many people involved in this case who have DUIs. Paul O’Keefe in 2020 (guess who paid his bail?), Chris Albert (killed an exchange student), even Jim the Court Clerk in 2006. |
Her insurance won't give them anything. She didn't cause his death. What exactly would they be settling? There is no way they should pursue this any longer. They will lose and waste a ton of money. |
Yes. |
Wouldn’t taking this to trial be really expensive compared to, say, throwing the O’Keefe’s $50k? I’m honestly asking, I have no idea how this works. I think there is incentive for the bars not to settle because it may impact their liquor license? But I thought the insurance company would be all about whatever is cheapest. |
Like I said, Like it or not, all were found not guilty. |
I suspect that a guilty verdict would have made the wrongful death an easy win for the family. The fact that it’s not guilty plus there is so much evidence pointing to the likelihood that he was not even hit by a car could make it so much more difficult for them to win. I think if a civil jury believes he wasn’t hit by a car, they wouldn’t hold the two bars liable because Karen didn’t hit him. Although, I wonder if they could be held liable for over serving him if the jury thinks he fell backwards because he had had too many drinks. |
+1. These are the people who never grew out of partying with their buds on the weekends. They are not kids. The effects of alcohol are so strong here: DUIs, anger, arguments, bad decisions, even mispelling on a Google search, LOL. Karen Read included. But I think this verdict is the right one. |
From the HBO documentary, I got the sense that Jennifer McCabe totally had a thing for JOK. |
Same. And was she married? I thought I remembered wondering if maybe her husband found out they were cheating and lured him to the house. |
Who was Chris Albert? Was he there that night? Did they look at his car? |
I just want one of the people inside that house to crack and come out with a tell-all book or interview. They’d make bank, we’d all finally know what the hell was going on. |
