New ownership??? |
Ikr? Does that PP think that someone else is going to take over Wmata? Who, Amtrak? Boeing? |
Correct. And the taxpayers of Alexandria want and support this. Just like they wanted and supported the abolishment of single family zoning. And they are going to get what they want. |
Alexandria taxpayers want to be saddled with a 3 billion dollar liability? |
No. Alexandria taxpayers definitely do not want to be saddled with $3b tax liability. But. It will be all Virginia taxpayers saddled with $3b. So that will be the end of the Democrats holding the legislature. Also. The cost will not stop at the bonds. The wastewater bills are going to explode. It astonishes me that people never understand why some riverfront property with views of dc has never been developed. |

The whole thing is delusional. Wonder what youngkin is getting and what he’s promised Wilson: neither of whom is running in the next election. |
New ownership? Who will own Metro? |
| I continue to believe that (a) this project is a terrible idea for both Virginia and D.C. and (b) it's going to happen anyway. It doesn't matter what information comes out showing why it's a bad idea. Leonsis and Youngkin will do whatever they have to to make it happen. |
Why would the democrats support this? It is a billionaire initiative underpinning Youngkin's legacy as governor. Why would they give this to Youngkin? |
It is a hard sell politically for a politician in Virginia to say they are against bringing the Capitals and Wizards over from DC. The mechanics of how it will work, and details like funding and transportation, don’t matter to most of the voting public. |
Probably a private transportation company that is willing to operate metro as the tourist attraction it has become. Who runs the HOT, mostly toll, lanes? |
Yes. Because their guy Wilson and the rest of city council told them everything is going to be great. No one will lose an election over this. Alexandria voters do exactly what they are told to do and believe by a guy who has a low level political patronage job at Amtrak. |
The Democratic party is the party of the rich. |
