2021 VA Governors race

To clarify what McAuliffe siad...
“I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decisions,” adding, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

“Listen, we have a board of ed working with the local school boards to determine the curriculum for our schools. You don’t want parents coming in in every different school jurisdiction saying, ‘This is what should be taught here’ and, ‘This is what should be taught here.’”

I'm looking forward to a day where VA voting % for dems will be like in DC and California, Republicans would not even bother to vote because Dems will carry every election. That is true democracy.

Off shore bookies seem to think this. McAuliffe is -270, Youngkin is +233

+1. Momentum is definitely with Youngkin.

The Clinton machine is about to crash into the wall. First Hillary, now McAuliffe and soon Warner (Mark not John). Those boomer fraudsters need to step aside

Thank you!!! Exactly!

Who do you fools think is going to beat Mark Warner, who was just reelected to a six-year term (checks notes) less than a year ago?

Love it when supposedly smart people don't know how to spell "lose".

Also, VA will never be as blue as it is in your fever dreams.

Same. Go McAuliffe!

Anonymous wrote:Many reasons why Terry will win. These are just a few.

1. It's a blue state.
2. Nova is one of the bluest parts of the country.
3. He is a perfect fit for nova--sort of pro-business, likes wealth accumulation, tech, and is liberal/sort of progressive on social issues.
4. The shadow of Trump. Nova voters despise him. And they despise Republicans in general.
5. Very few voters care about school board issues or the alleged teaching of "CRT." Just not an issue for them.
6. Youngkin has only been ahead in one poll. Facts matter. No way there are that many "shy" Youngkin supporters.
7. Nova parents are overwhelmingly supportive of vaccine mandates and masking. They don't want to rock the boat on that.
8. Youngkin's awkward campaign.
So, it's Terry by four points.

I do think McAuliffe will pull it out, but not by a lot and by a smaller margin than Ayala and Herring. And since he's at the top of the ticket, that alone ought - but probably won't - give the Democrats pause.

As for your specifics.

1. Virginia is a blue/purple state, but the pendulum has been known to swing in both directions.

2. The version of "blue" that prevails in NoVa isn't necessarily the version of "blue" that Terry 2021 represents, which is more like "Pelosi blue" - a limousine liberal version that supports leftist policies while distancing oneself personally from any of the consequences.

3. See #2. Sort of, but the ideal candidate for NoVa is more like Mark Warner than Terry McAuliffe, who'll always be seen as a sleazy carpetbagger who got wealthy due to political connections rather than business acumen.

4. Virginia voters, being center-left now rather than center-right, also despise candidates who demonize their opponents to the extent McAuliffe has in trying to tie Youngkin completely to Trump. It just underscores how unlikable Terry is.

5. You're missing the boat on this one - Virginia voters care a lot about schools and how Democrats have prioritized the views of teachers' associations over students, embraced anti-meritocratic ideology, and generally don't seem to have a clue what they're doing when it comes to public education.

6. We'll see about that - the polls are not perfect. Support for Democratic candidates has been overstated in many recent elections.

7. Virginians are pro-vaccine but many are also anti-mandates.

8. McAuliffe has committed the largest gaffes in the campaign, such as announcing parents have no role in their kids' education, whereas Youngkin has walked the tightrope of appealing to Republicans, independents, and Democrats who still support Biden but are scared of one-party dominance reasonably well.

Very well written!

Vote for him you are a traitor to the US

Voting single issue is just dumb.

He will destroy the schools.

He is a racist antisemite liar.

That rally he just had with Bannon leading the charge of Election lies makes him unacceptable to be in government period.

Democrats are turning into Maoists.

They are one step away from Robespierre and two steps away from Pol Pot.

Can you just go away? Finally a good discussion going on and you insert your crazy. You do understand that you are not helping McAuliffe by these statements but hey maybe that is your goal.

What do you not understand?

Fact Youngkin supports the Big Lie. That means if elected he will never give up office. This is not hard people. Republcians do not want your vote to count ever again. They have already changed voting laws.

What do you think Youngkin magically changes his mind while in office and lets the next election go to a Dem if the Dems wins most votes? HAHAHAHA Nope Youngkin =Trumpism when it comes to election lie

He has literally told us all who he is.

Antisemite no denying that after Bannon's rally.
Liar supports the Big Lie
No policies besides scamming hard-working Americans

He will raise your taxes he will ruin schools he will promote racism and antisemitism. Most importantly he does not stand with Democracy.

Hum I don't see Dems screaming at elementary school students or screaming at board meetings or trump trains.

One thing is for certain Republicans support the hanging of the VP of the US, a coup and election lies.

Ex Republican who will never stand with Sid Powell, Rudy G, Jenna Ellis, Lin Wood, Ted Cruz, Mo Brooks, Ron Johnson etc.. Yeah they knowlingly lied to the American people on the floor of Congress on Jan 6th.
