Lol You haven’t heard anything. |
Heard they are asking for PAC to help them out again maybe the same girls teams and possibly a boy team too. |
PP here. Colleague of mine is party of admin for FFC (who are leaving CCL). Rumors are very much circulating the leadership circles (within the league), biggest problem for the HS aged teams is too many missing teams; only gets worse next year. |
Is this referring to the league or to the club? |
Both; leadership within league is actively discussing options to remove LMVSC. I doubt club leadership has much they can do about this. Problems are too many missing teams and too little competition of the teams that are present. If CCL wanted PAC in their league, they would be in. |
PAC only did it as a favor They have no desire to play ccl as a club. |
| Why would a club opt into a dying league? |
Look, nobody cares about leagues other than the league employees posting on these sites and a few idiotic parents who have untalented kids or don’t know anybody. Knock it off and move on. |
Actually, a lot of us care. I'd rather stay primarily in Northern Virginia/Maryland than have to drive to Virginia Beach or Roanoke. It's absurd. |
Is it that big of a deal to drive to those locations once every two years? I would also prefer to stay in NOVA/MD as there is enough talent here but it's not the end of the world. |
I have three kids in travel sports so, for us, it is a big deal. We all expect and enjoy traveling for tournaments, but traveling to Virginia Beach and Roanoke every other year (and West Virginia, Richmond and Charlottesville on the other years) for a league game when we are within thirty minutes of the same level teams... well, it really feels ridiculous. |
No, you care about the commute, not the league, which is a totally reasonable point to raise. My point was that the obsession with leagues is what got us the CCL and ECNL fetishes in the first place and led to all that travel time that many of us do not like. |
clubs thought they were too good for NCSL or wanted to be able to market themselves as elite, and new leagues formed. NCLS is now geographically just as big as CCL, which is also large. EDP has even worse travel distances for norther virginia teams. The only league worse the EDP for distance is ECNL, but at least people know what they are getting into when their kid signs up |
| Time to start our NOVA only Regional league. |
I'm betting that if a few clubs joined, they would get players fast. If just the teams in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudon, and Price William formed a league it would have enough clubs to be competitive at multiple levels for every age group |
