Herndon club

Herndon did not have a 2014G pre-ECNL team in the 2025-2026 season. Their 2013G team was middle of the pack in ECNL-R. Did they get enough players to form a U13G team for the 2026-2027 season? What league will they play in?

Did you also look at Loudoun and GFR? Different leagues but good programs as well.

I don’t know about the TD. Over the last few years Herndon has been strong on the boys side but seemed to have turnover in coaching and trouble fielding teams on the girls side, including borrowing players from Sterling to round out their girls teams.

The u13g coach is new to the club but reportedly was well-liked at his last club. I think they have enough for the RL team but not certain, likely no second team depending on what level your DD is at.

Depending where you live GFR, VYS, McLean & Loudoun might also be realistic options, maybe others too. GFR had a strong team that will be on RL at that age and a competitive second team in NCSL, smaller, more technical possession play. VYS also had a couple teams with a more athletic play style, the RL team was upper half of the table last year. McLean had several levels heading into GA & Aspire, including a couple strong teams, and Loudon has a lot of teams between itself and NVA, also strong at the top.

The TD's teams get special treatment: assistant coaches so more instruction at practices, special trips, more field space for practices, more scrimmages and more tournaments.
He's scheduled to coach the U14 girls team next year, is that the team you are asking about?

They promised to send out rosters by June 15, so I guess the girls teams will find out then if they have enough players.

It was in the may newsletter, where they also explained that, just like the HYS high school age teams, the most elite soccer clubs in the world also practice on tiny scraps of field space. I guess they aren't giving the older teams more space for fall despite all the complaints this year. (The TD always gets a lot of space for his practices, though, even for u-littles.)

Glad we are leaving because the fall field situation on the boys side was ridiculous.

Insane. Playing two years up is not appropriate for the vast majority of kids. Four years up is just cruel. Who would sign on for that?

No one was playing up 3-4 years, but there were a good number of girls playing up 1-2.

Not true. One of the younger player’s dad is a coach for the much older girls. She is playing for her dad.

Does anyone know what the July team camps are that they mentioned in the newsletter?

No idea. We didn't have one last summer.

Has anyone seen their team roster yet or heard anything about these July team camps?

No. I hope the camps work out as our July is pretty empty. Evenings preferred due to heat.

Forgot to mention our team manager had the roster somehow so I have seen it. If you are friendly with your TM, ask if they know it.

I'm a team manager for next year and haven't seen it!

Same. Regarding July, I don’t know anything about camps but I think they are planning to have free play on Tues/Thurs evenings this summer at Bready.
