Going to many admitted student events next month to help the decision process.

I am having a difficult time believing this post. Sorry.

This might be the rare unicorn kid but certainly not the norm. RD is going to be a very unhappy experience for the vast majority of kids this year who overapplied due to the uncertainty of the admission cycle. Should be interesting times in 2-3 weeks.

Some will with they had applied ED instead.

We are glad my kid did not- in at Georgetown (EA), UVA (EA), W&M Monroe (RD) and Pomona (RD).

Waiting on 4 Ivies, Swarthmore, Hopkins (alum).

what are your kid's stats?

Being a Hopkins alum won’t help your kid at all.

We know, we know. Not STEM so don’t care.

UVA is doing the same thing, or is it all VA schools?

All VA schools. It’s a state law now.

Similar to your child. REA at Ivy (Deferred). Presidential Scholarship finalist offers at UM, Lafayette and a couple other T50 privates. Waiting on one scholarship and Ivy day.

Creates a potential conundrum: how do you prove an alumni kid didn't get in because of that? Do they have to be beyond perfect? Do they find a way to show interest that isn't the obvious baby photo in orange and blue?

When will we see RDs added? Do students wait until the last moment to "accept" offers?
Anonymous
Yes, many students wait.

Also, these are student run pages and they post at intervals that vary. Not all students even submit their decisions for posting. Some want their pages to look a certain way, whether it’s colors are spacing out the same schools, so they wait.

Question: Do schools offer scholarships based on someone having been nominated as a Presidential Scholar? I ask because my kid was nominated but didn’t bother filling out the application after balancing the cost of doing so against the low probability of being chosen and lack of perceived benefits (i.e., no actual scholarship and too late to do much for college applications, so only a chance of having an award to put on resume and getting a trip to DC, neither of which matters to my kid.) It’s a moot point for my kid who has already chosen a school (which doesn’t offer merit scholarships) but I wasn’t aware that some schools might offer merit scholarships based on a student having been nominated.
