Physicians Assistant yelling “HELP ME” while stealing a CitiBike ?

Anonymous
I find it sad that she was heckled for crying, both in person and on the internet. Plenty of women on this board have been pregnant and I'm sure know of the strong emotional swings during pregnancy. She was frustrated and cried tears of frustration after working 12 hours and then being bullied by 4 men who continued to bully her even after she told them she is pregnant!

No wonder workers don’t want to come back FT to offices in Manhattan. Living and working from home from CT or Westchester is a much better option and way safer. Way fewer dudes who will even argue with a pregnant woman about a bike.

There’s that dog whistle again. You just can’t help yourself.

But sadly it’s true. Any man raised in a good home with decent values doesn’t try to take a bike from a pregnant woman. You’re likely defensive and angry because you know it’s true.

DP. You're making broad generalizations about another race, and that's just wrong. I agree the guys are scum, but no need to seize on that to make a racist point.

But instead of the men's terrible behavior, let's focus on the behavior of the victim and how she didn't react appropriately enough. Let's talk about "fake tears" and calling for help because she wanted something to happen to them. Did you call out the men's bad behavior at any point? If not, why should anyone care about any feeble point you're trying to make?

This is the crux of the issue to me. The amount of malice people read into this woman's behavior was alarming to me. Just tons of assumptions about her "real" motives and straight up disbelieving her requests for help or her apparent distress. It really bothers me because what are you supposed to do if you need help?

People kept saying that she should have just walked away, but those guys were all around her. And ultimately she does walk away, but first she gets upset. Are you not allowed to get upset, ever? Not allowed to ask for help? Not allowed to cry if you feel like crying?

It's just insane to me.

Look, I’m the PP two above and I agree completely. I’ve posted about how the accusations of “white women’s tears” is both racist AND misogynist. ITA it’s meant to victimize white women, and it sure succeeded here.

All I’m saying is, dog-whistle pp shouldn’t be trying to be the flip side of Monique Judge’s coin.

Exactly. Then the internet sleuths got their magnifying glasses out and declared them "fake" because they decided based on something, not clear what, they didn't like her and she wasn't credible.

Yes. I posted above that the men are scum and I said this was about white women, not just about white people.

What I’m saying now is, let’s not get in the gutter with the anti-white, misogynistic racists. We can do better.

Oh, now it's a bad idea. It was ok until the truth came out though I guess. That's how this thread started, if you recall.

And I didn’t participate until late in the thread, until after the receipts came out, and then I was very supportive of her.

What’s wrong with you? For the record, I think people like Monique Judge and the earlier posters attacking her need to apologize (and some but not all have), if that’s what you’re looking for.

This is misguided. The whole point of administrative leave is to allow employers take time to try and figure out the facts before rushing to judgment when an issue arises. Administrative leave is almost always paid leave. They didn't accuse her of anything. They aren't going to apologize because they didn't imply she did anything wrong. Putting an employee on paid admin leave while looking into a matter further is standard procedure and doesn't warrant an apology -- even if people are trying to spin it into a punishment or indictment.

Disagree. Forced leave, even if paid, can be an adverse action.

I'm sure a heavily pregnant woman is thrilled at the idea of losing her health insurance at this point because some people wanted to have some fun at her expense. Hopefully she can keep it because it's not an ideal time to look for a new job.

What does this even mean? People on paid administrative leave don't lose their health insurance. The likely outcome is that her leave ends and this woman returns to work if she wishes. The hospital is not the bad actor here -- all they did was pay her to sit at home while they looked further into this.

But it’s clear what that factor is. Were she visibly identifiable as having Black or Meso-American or AAPI heritage the second part - the internet mob - would never have happened.

A very popular site for Black women, with plenty of NYC and city-adjacent members, has the PA’s FULL address up on the discussion thread. It hasn’t been deleted, it’s just there. Can anyone believe in their hearts that that would be ok if the PA had a different appearance?

All things considered, it’s probably best for both parties that they go their separate ways. She gets a reasonable settlement and never works there again.

This is a bad outcome to me. She’s done nothing to harm the hospital and they’ve done nothing to harm her (the leave was paid and their statement was neutral). If the outcome here is: a dedicated healthcare worker leaves hospital because after being harassed outside work, an internet mob tried to destroy her name and reputation, that’s just sad.

I bet you anything a lot of people at that hospital support her, are familiar with this kind of street harassment near the building, and would welcome her back with open arms.

The outcome will be “New York City loses a dedicated health care professional who worked to serve the least privileged New Yorkers through covid.”

Or New York declares open season on white women.

It's wrong to point out that the first 40 pages of this thread never should have existed? If she had been another race it wouldn't have made it past 2 pages.

It shouldn’t. Because there was no one in this conflict who was racist on one side facing misogyny. The maltreatment came entirely from the men and none of your lying changes it.

The majority of this conversation is about the woman's behavior and whether it was right or wrong. Not much mention of the fact that maybe all this could have been avoided if the men had acted appropriately in the first place. Don't start none, won't be none. But some people actually believe that in the face of such awful behavior, the victim needs to tone down her reaction, hide her emotions, protect the fragile men, lest something bad happen. Something bad has already happened.

This is it right here. Unbelievable to me that it doesn’t matter what the boys did (literally intimidate her and physically force her to give up the bike). She should have accepted their behavior and just walked away. WTF is that bs? Is that seriously what this world has come to?

If you want to make this about race, the only message here is black people can behave as inappropriately as they want and white people are obligated to take it or walk away with absolutely no reaction. How the eff is this ok?

This.

I think I’m in a little shock that the proof and local news interview of her attorney has not quashed the vitriol of the terminally online. It’s actually really shocking to me.

Just stop. DP. There are zero dog whistles in that post. It’s an honest address of how “Karen” and “white woman tears” and reference to an infamous tragedy were inappropriate! If the PA were African-American there would have been zero online campaigning to “get her.” Come off of it, please.

Which is why her attorney has said he has a "list" of people to sue that includes not just media but personalities, presumably including Crump and Monique Judge. The attorney even gave Judge a chance to back down and she just dug in deeper. I think that's entirely appropriate--go after the people who used their huge platforms to make this go viral.
