Johnny Depp trial in Fairfax County

I don’t know about Virginia but judges generally have a lot of discretion to run their courtroom. It’s not unusual for a judge to put time limits on parties where the parties would otherwise not police themselves. I’ve been surprised she let them take this long for a single party defamation suit. Clearly without limits these two would spend the next six months in court and the jurors would all have to quit their jobs.

Another Q might be do we pay actors and sports figures a lot of $ and then "punish" them when they are not "role models," even though they might never have been role model material.

Johnny Depp is not getting work because he is a drug addict who is unreliable and costs the studios money when he doesn't show up to set. Amber still has work because she shows up on time and isn't dramatic. I'm not even saying that as pro AH/Anti JD, it is just the truth of hollywood that they care about the bottom line.

Yes. Amber Heard is definitely not dramatic.

LOL!!!!

He's know for arriving late to sets and his odd personality. Well, now we know why. He's a mess.

Amber wanted a rich man and she ended up with a drug addict mess. That itself would drive anyone insane!

She also wanted someone who would support her career (hello, connections!) but he wasn't interested, only wanted her to support him and not travel on her own.

She's not dramatic ON SET. She does not actually appear to have a reputation of being a drama queen while at WORK. Which is a key distinction when you need to insure actors of a major motion picture.

I just came here to report about the signs along 123 in Tysons that say "Justice for Johnny Depp". Is that the route he's taking or something? They're the dinkiest little signs, like a middle schooler made them on a small piece of poster board. Made me laugh out loud!

How do you know that she's not dramatic on set? She is so entitled that I doubt it will take a long time before we hear that she in fact is a drunk and a druggy and difficult to work with.

Because rumors get out about people who are dramatic on set. And because DC didn't drop her until fans pressured them.

Make no mistake, the smear campaign that ruined a career here is JD's campaign against AH. And I'm not taking any sides in their supremely screwed up relationship, but JD is a MAJOR hollywood star who was scraping by on nostalgia and goodwill alone the last decade as his addictions made him a greater and greater liability on set. The rumors that their relationship was a toxic abusive stew were in place LONG before her vague op-ed. JD is done because he delayed pirates for a month after his hand got injured on a bender. And still, he's not really DONE, he's still Johnny Depp and Captain Jack Sparrow in the hearts of many. He just needs to sober up and do a friendly interview and he will be fine.

But she was a MUCH smaller star and has a very powerful enemy now who has dragged her name through the dirt. People have all kinds of competing memories with JD. They hear this grossness but then prefer to think about 21 Jump Street Johnny or Chocolat Johnny or Pirates Johnny and so they just do. They replace him with the version they prefer. Amber Heard is just the girl who everyone says pooped on JD's bed (a fact not actually conclusively proven, though the court of public opinion needs no proof). Her career really is forever ruined because of this likely.

A blender? What blender?
Her career is ruined because she wanted to advance it by trying to build a clout and grandstand on problematic grounds, in the middle of the metoo movement.
Her career is ruined because of her bad calculations.
And finally, aside from JD, she's a mediocre actress.

Do you know how to read? I said a BENDER. A drug fueled BENDER. It is a colloquialism for when someone takes a lot of drugs and spends a prolonged period high/intoxicated and generally makes a bunch of poor choices

Regardless, after all this, he'll still be remembered as one of the greatest actors of our time and she she'll not be remembered as any kid of an artist (maybe a con-artist). And certainly not because of him.

This is essentially what I posted originally. Just with a less fawning over JD tone, so not sure what you’re trying to convince me of

I've watched snippets of the trial here and there. Here's what stuck out to me:

1. He's an actor who can't get acting jobs, testifying in front of jurors. They are his audience. He can't help but act for them. Same with Amber.
2. He talked at length and detail about how abusive his mother was. He got asked "Was your father abusive?" He swiftly and firmly answered that his father wasn't. And then proceeded to explain that his mother would tell his father to whip Johnny, and his father would do it. He just wasn't mean about it the way his mother was, so Johnny didn't view it as abuse.
3. He clearly has a hard time setting boundaries. My mother did a lot less to me than his did to him, and I set VERY firm boundaries with her. He took care of his mother and brought her to award shows and premiers - I wonder how he reconciled what she did, in his head. And then he got together with an abusive wife. Repeating the pattern. I bet there was something about her Crazy that was familiar and comfortable to him.
4. Why was SO MUCH of their personal lives recorded? I've recorded someone exactly once in my life. ONCE. How is it that she happened to record all these conversations?
