| She’s a wealthy woman; she ought to be ashamed that she makes use of FCPS’s lawyers to defend her conduct. |
I did not think that she could use fcps lawyers on her recall fight. |
| The law firm being used is the main way FCPS uses. |
| Nothing filled me with rage last year more than all the time spent on TJ (relevant to such a tiny percentage of FCPS kids) and renaming schools WHEN SCHOOLS WERE CLOSED. Its like cleaning out your closet when your house is on fire. |
+1 Many moderates are very much regretting their votes in 2019 - including me. |
That’s just dumb. The SB had no control over the spread of COVID. |
DP, but I thought the point was they spent time that could have been spent on monitoring distance learning and remediation plans on TJ admissions and school names. Not that the SB could control the spread of COVID-19. |

Good when partisan harassment is seen for what it is. |
Or bad when a partisan Democratic Commonwealth's Attorney refuses to pursue allegations against a Democratic School Board member. Although I guess that's good if you want less accountability and even more back-scratching. |
|
A statement from Tholen said Hingeley independently investigated the claims against the School Board member. The special prosecutor asked the judge to discuss the case "because it did not contain factual allegations that met the legal standard."
"In this case, a small group of people unhappy about Covid restrictions tried to use the law to substitute their opinion for a unanimous consensus of the Fairfax County School Board," said Tholen in response to the petition dismissal. "I was happy to hear the special prosecutor tell the judge that the case was about a policy disagreement, and that the recall process is not a vehicle to resolve such disputes with elected officials and governing bodies. That is why we have elections." |
So over 5000 of her unhappy constituents is a "small group of people"? Wow. She can take a victory lap if she wants, but she really ought to be reflecting on why she, among all the current School Board members, was the first to be the subject of a recall. |
|
Simply because she was the lowest hanging fruit (ie. fewest signatures required to get a recall because of the size of her district which was the smallest). It really had nothing to do with her actions she was just a convenient target for a group of Anti-Vax, Anti-Mask and Anti-Union nut jobs.
As a follow-up to this group's great success in the recall effort of Tholen maybe they should consider adding an initiative to get FCPS to update all of their Science and History books to tell the truth about the US moon landing back in 1969. After all, there is about the same amount of scientific evidence backing that story as there is backing the story that vaccines protect against Covid-19 and masks prevent the spread. Winning... |
Dranesville is not the smallest magisterial district (in terms of # of voters, size, etc.). Not even close. If she was the "lowest hanging fruit," it was only because she had less support in her district than other members did in their districts. |

In descending order of the total number of voters in the last School Board election it was:
