Churchill Getting a New Principal

It's a new federal holiday.

Add it to next year’s calendar and subtract another holiday. To announce the day before is ridiculous.

BTW - weren’t the principal interviews supposed to be tomorrow? June 18th? Now the interviews will have to be rescheduled. Sometimes there’s actually work that needs to be done in a public school system. Let’s just flush more tax dollars down the drain.

Tell it to Congress and Mr Biden. MPCS recognizes all federal holidays.

Can he come to Pyle?

PP here - that was in response to Mr. Taylor being a presence for staff and students.

MCPS does not get Columbus Day or Veteran’s day off but feds do.

Maybe they are still conducting the interviews?

It would be nice if there was an update from Dr. Moran. I will bet that no interviews will occur tomorrow but would be happily surprised if they did.

The official Federal Holiday is Saturday. Banks and Post Offices are closed on Saturday. MCPS could observe the holiday on the official day. They just wanted a 3 day weekend.

Who is up for the position anyway?

This was a smart move by MCPS. They can barely get half the kids up to par on reading and math. But declaring Juneteenth a holiday will let them off the hook with black people and woke whites for another year.

Declare it for next year then. Close facilities on Saturday. Release to the public how much it costs MCPS to add another holiday to the calendar. Plan for the change and not do something on a whim.

For Churchill, MCPS must not care about the interview process or the sheeps from the community they roped in to participate in the process. Everyone will have to reschedule because of the new holiday.

Interviews have been rescheduled to July 1 per a letter from Moran to Churchill staff. Letter also stated the BoE will still name the new Principal July 13.

The delay raises the question - when are the RM and NW interviews? Churchill’s vacancy was announced first but because of the delay for the new holiday, RM and NW might get first dibs on candidates.

Nice that Dr. Moran sends a letter to staff but not the community.

What did the staff letter say?

July 1st is a 13 day delay with the interviews. That’s longer than the time period between the announcement of Mrs. Heckert’s departure on June 7th and the original June 18th interview date. Did Dr. Moran explain why the long delay?

Dr. Moran or Dr. Dyson really needs to send the Churchill community an update.

They probably have the candidate that they want to hire waiting in the wings. The interviews are just for show.
