Anyone who can bring the crime down. Why it is up so much and the good neighborhoods are going down hill.

Crime is up because poverty is up and also kids weren't in school for a year and a half. Historically, kids being out of school has consistently been linked with increased crime.

The decline of "good neighborhoods" is because there is only a finite number of people with high disposal incomes that can afford to pay premium for housing. In that past those people would all pay for the same old neighborhoods: Dupont, Chevy Chase, Capitol Hill, and Cleveland Park. Logan Circle was eventually added to this list. The city has now created a brand new premium neighborhood at the Wharf which is leaching away young professionals that would otherwise be paying a premium for that Cleveland Park condo. A similar thing is happening right now a Walter Reed/Brightwood. Those old neighborhoods are now ageing out with a lack of new investment. The land value won't go down but eventually the structures will depreciate enough that it will be worthwhile for new buyers to come in and do gut renovations and we then see a new cycle. The city has also made a conscientious effort for "burden sharing" poverty in Ward 3, with predictable results. With the new Comp Plan, I think we will see a lot of new investment along Wisconsin between Tenleytown and Friendship Heights.

Anyone who can commit to reducing crime and preserving quality of life for middle-income households. Anyone who doesn't think it's fine for educated families to have to leave the District so their kids can be challenged in school.

I don’t know how to embed tweets, but a few local reporters found Robert White’s ActBlue page for a mayoral run next year.

That’s the pipe dream. The reality will be more “equity” minded woke Charles Allen types who would rather let rapists out of jail early than tackle the rising crime and poor schools. I say that as a liberal. I wish this city council gave more of a fk about the people who pay for everything. But no. It’ll be more subsidized housing, in places like Res 13, to perpetuate poverty for generations and more cancelling AP classes so our kids can all fail together.

They “found” his donations page and are just publicly sharing? I’m not that gullible but pretty savvy move for White to leak it like this.

David Catania, Carol Schwartz, Vincent Grey, Anthony Williams and others were moderating influences and put the city's finances in order. Then we got the Kwame Brown era & corruption came roaring back. Now you have the "progressive era" where grandstanding for social justice is all that really matters. Fortunately I saw which way the winds were blowing and escaped the city two years ago.

You are conveniently missing the Graham and Evans corruption eras, which were around "back then" and continued for a long time. Their corruption pales in comparison to Brown and is only runner up to Barry in recent DC history. In any case, its not a competition. But lets not pretend that these guys were not thieving and stealing while everyone else was trying to be "adults".

The current era has got to be the worst though. I could not in my wildest dreams imagine that government could be run based on what slogans get the most likes and retweets any given day. It's like a Black Mirror episode, but instead of being ominous its just embarrassing.

Say what you want about corrupt politicians, but most of them at least knew how to butter the bread. Although they got a cut, they ensured that lots of other people were taken care of. These folks are only taking care of their social media presence.

Speaking of Evans…

As expected, Racine will not seek any office in this election cycle: https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2021/10/12/karl-racine-2022-election-mayor-dc/

Unfortunately, I tend to agree with you. I miss David Catania and Tony Williams. All of the economic good that happened in the city over the last 20 years is due in no small part to the vision of Tony Williams, who was a force for creating economic economic development on the District's underutilized waterfront---thus today we have the Wharf and the Navy Yard.

But NO ONE on the current council, with the possible exception of Brooke Pinto, has any business experience whatsoever and they view the city's economy not as something to be preserved and enhanced but as something to be pillaged.

And you know who would have kept the schools closed even longer, and is super cool with letting kids just not attend school period? Robert White.

LOL, Pinto worked for Racine and her parents bought the Ward 2 seat. No, she has ZERO real world experience.
