Wow, they must have been terrified to go to trial. I don't think you need to give an official apology for defamation when you write a $800 million dollar check though

Yes usually settlements mean that you don’t have to say sorry. The fact that dominion said “fox lied” and Fox said “we lied” is not typical. Fox must have thought it was worth $780 million to not have Tucker Carlson admit he lied on the stand. It’s a settlement, but it still has teeth - knowing that the court knocked down fox’s attempt to claim “newsworthiness” as a reason for airing lies is pretty powerful. I’d love to see new max and oan go belly up and bankrupt. |

Fox actually did admit that some of the statements they put on air were lies. |
LOL good luck? Dominion was worth $80 million before this. They just exponentially grew their revenue, I think they are going to be cool waiting this out for a while. |
Dominion is done. No way any politician or government official will select them for anything. Maybe a quite name change. The thing is the ownership of Dominion will do well. The employees who took all the sh#t get nothing. |
| Doesn’t another voting machine company still have a pending lawsuit against Faux? |
Or they just funded Dominion in order to take out their competitors (OAN, Newsmax) in a trial. |
Why, yes, there is a pending lawsuit from another voting machine company: Smartmatic. "Another election technology company, Smartmatic, filed a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox in February 2021, accusing the news network of falsely implicating the company in a bogus narrative about vote rigging in the 2020 election. Smartmatic said in its complaint that Fox knowingly aired more than 100 false statements. A day after the suit was filed, Fox Business canceled the show of Lou Dobbs, who was named as a defendant. In February, a New York appeals court denied Fox’s request to dismiss the case, and last month a New York judge agreed the case could proceed. A trial date has not been set." There's also a suit pending from an individual, Abby Grossberg, "who had worked with the hosts Maria Bartiromo and Tucker Carlson, filed two lawsuits against the company, in Delaware and in New York, saying that Fox’s lawyers had pushed her to give a misleading deposition in the Dominion case and alleging a hostile and discriminatory work environment. Ms. Grossberg was fired after filing the complaints." https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/18/business/media/fox-lawsuits-legal-cases.html |
+1. i checked yesterday the main webpage and i could not find it anywhere (while all other websites of news outlets had the news of the settlement prominently as the main news). news were the usual teacher fired for saying good morning girls to her students because of trans rights, few mugshots of random Black guys with news of crimes, Biden's 2023 tax return (with bad photo of Biden) and so on. so nothing. |
There is a bit of an optics issue: https://www.thestandardsc.org/jay-greenberg/judge-releases-dominion-audit-report-system-designed-to-create-systemic-fraud/ |
