Wow. A lot to unpack here. A few nuggets of goodness for parents sandwiched between a lot of shade. I get it. We’re invested and this is an emotional topic. Trying to summarize for those who are struggling to keep up. At older ages, GA is where the talent consolidated due to the creation of the league when this age group was younger. Now with DA turning into GA (why the heck did this happen if it was the top league?) teams are moving to ECNL and people expect the younger talent to migrate there over time. FCV and Arlington may or may not join ECNL or may or may not want to join ECNL. The argument here is if it matters if your DD plays ECNL vs GA. On one hand, yes it does as ECNL is the emerging winner of the girls soccer landscape. On the other hand, GA teams at younger ages are arguably “better” (coaching, winning) than the ECNL teams as there is too much talent dilution and arguably the coaching and player development is not as good. (Is this really true or another arguement that probably deserves its own thread?) |

Slow rise of ECNL? Crazy talk. ECNL is the lion in the room...for over a decade. None of this is debatable.
Let’s not forget, FCV are founding members of ECNL. They are ECNL. Through and Through. They got cocky, jumped ship for something new and can’t get back. That’s the breaks. |

I suggest some of you younger parents read up on ECNL to prevent suck crazy talk.
ECNL has been and will be the top youth girls league in the world Using worlds like emerging is insulting. GA is not competition for ECNL. |
No why would any player go from GA/ECNL team that will qualify for champions league/regionals/what they are calling it to a team that does not qualify? Look at the records of McLean, BSC and BRYC at the 08’s. Those teams may lose to ECNL-r teams. There are too many ECNL clubs and they are too close together in this area. So help me out here, why would any parent at those clubs get on a board and basically invite every talented girl at other clubs to come on over? I know some of those teams have been told the club is looking to replace current players(looking for more size and speed). You really feel the club will not replace your DD? Why would ECNL clubs beg for players from GA? ECNL is just so much better vs GA I doubt any GA play could make an ECNL team...right? It seems you are saying GA girls are talented enough to walk on an ECNL team. If you and your great soccer knowledge know this, I bet college coaches know this also. |
Get a job. You spend quite a time writing speculation and assumptions. Just tell which one of these clubs has a national championship, some don’t even have done anything no success or record and your say they the destination. |
What are you afraid of? Tell us, please. You seem to be over-hyping and over compensating. I don’t see anyone begging for GA players. I don’t see anyone shaking in their boots if FCV or Arlington players come to tryouts. I’ve seen it 10000 times over. Let me tell you how it would work. The best kids on the best GA team will try to land spots on the best ECNL team in their age group. For example (hypothetical) FCV 06 players will try to land spots on VDA 06. BUT, only a few will make it. The next best will try to get on the next best team. Let’s say McLean 06. Again, only a few will make it because Arlington 06 players are trying to do the same thing. Finally, the remaining kids will get picked up by the third and forth best teams. The kids displaced will do the same. Very few kids will get displaced from good teams. Only the best will get picked up. This is what’s getting ready to unfold. |
This is clearly a defensive post from a FCV parent |
These threads are infested of Loudoun paid minions that wreaks putrid |
You have a lot of hatred in you |
There should be a separate thread for just FCV vs. Loudoun. Seems the battle Loudoun County talent is personal! When FCV moves practices to TSJ, I wonder if the disinformation campaign will go into high gear against VDA and BRYC... |

“Younger ages of ECNL struggling”. Do you know how many players didn’t jump ship to BRYC or VDA due to COVID? All of those really good Alexandria, SYC, and LMVSC players will be moving for ECNL. CCL is not a league for serious players; it’s not to be elitist or mean but it’s true. Same rings true for Arlington, SYA, CYA, Vienna going to McLean.
Cream rises to the top; unless you shake things up. DA sorta shook things up until they folded. ECNL clubs will make out better simply due to the soccer landscape returning “to the way things were”. |
What am I afraid of? Not you. You sound unhinged and a little desperate, but I think you are more harm to yourself than to anybody else. You need to dial back your involvement quite a bit, if not for your own sake, then for your kids or for the kids you are employed to serve. |
| Covid makes life boring. ECNL v. GA and FCV v. Loudoun gives a few bored souls something to do. |
| GA will become a better version of CCL. Change my mind. |
100%. But it will take a couple of years and a migration of players. And it’s not like ECNL is heavenly. there are some real concerns there regarding how they plan to structure showcasing opportunities with 120+ teams. Girls who play on teams that are low in their conferences won’t have the showcasing opportunities that girls who play on teams that are top of the conference. 2022 or 2023 DCUM threads around tryout time won’t be about ECNL v GA anymore, but they WILL be about which ECNL teams are ‘worth it’ and which are not. i do think that is an open question answered by a combination of coaching and development and location. I think it’s funny that people keep bringing up that BRYC had a national championship when the coaches that built that team are gone. Past performance is no guarantee of future performance. |
