You have a flimsy understanding of racism. Racism is not limited to situations when someone literally says let's go kill a black person. Our government systems are borne out of that type of "true racism" which is why they continue to produce the same results despite the officers not actively seeking out a black woman to kill. In order to stop producing the same results of "true racism" despite not being racist, we have to first acknowledge the role that race plays in the systems, and fix them.

If we don't, black people will continue to die at the hands of police, face no consequences, and people like you will hand wave it away like she was no better than some trash under your feet, while also screeching about property damage. And our country will continue to fall apart at the seams.

There's a reason that all of these things are coming to head at once. America's original sin is greed, fed with individualism, entitlement, and racism. We've ignored the problems for hundreds of years and now the chickens have come home to roost. The only way to stop the collapse is to finally address the root causes.

NP. The personal beliefs about racism you're projecting do not align with the PP's comments.

Not everything is a belief. Racism is a real concept with a real definition. PP wants to limit that definition to only the most obvious and intentional examples. That means PP either doesn't understand, which is the charitable stance I took, or PP is willfully obfuscating discussions of racism because they would rather perpetuate it than fix it.

Your not in the position to assess racism, Trumpy. Breonna Taylor did nothing wrong. And she was murdered. By police. Because of the color of her skin.

But this is not true. She was an innocent casualty of gunfire exchange between parties who were legally allowed to defend themselves, which is why no charges were filed against either side. It is a horrible tragedy but not directly racist. Focus in this case should be on the issue of no-knock warrants, and I'm delighted there is a movement to reform them.

It is a horrible tragedy but not directly racist. Focus in this case should be on the issue of no-knock warrants, and I'm delighted there is a movement to reform them.

It is typical of the times that few try to understand the situation in a more balanced way, on both sides. Go after no-knock warrants, absolutely. Verify police followed correct procedure; if not, throw the book at them. Go after the parties that offered the BF the corrupt plea deal, if it's true.

What evidence is there that Taylor was killed because of the color of her skin? For all the police knew, there could've been a white lady in there. While racism is a real concept, it does not have a "real" or agreed-upon definition, and different people have different beliefs about its meaning, scope, applicability, and implications on society. You expect everyone to adhere to your definition of racism. If they don't, then they don't understand or they are willfully obfuscating discussions.

Anyone who has been following policing issues - and not just the certain cases being used to push a narrative -- would know these types of incidents during police raids have been going on *for years.* Why not try to get all Americans on board to address these issues instead of framing it as happening to only one group of people?

At least against the the officer who was charged with "wanton endangerment" for blindly shooting a wall. He was shooting through a glass door covered with blinds, with no line of sight, into Breonna's apartment, in the opposite direction of the officers who used a battering ram to knock down her door. Breonna's boyfriend shot once, thinking it was a home invasion. The rest of the gunfire was from the police shooting at each other.

The police had been investigating two men who they believed were selling drugs out of a house that was far from Ms. Taylor’s home.
But a judge signed a warrant allowing the police to search Breonna's residence because the police believed that one of the men had used her apartment to receive packages.
Breonna had been dating that man on and off for several years but had recently severed ties with him.

SO...

If the two guys that the cops were investigating were white, they never even would have sought a no-knock warrant to begin with.

The reality is her boyfriend shot at armed cops. Had he not had a gun, she wouldn’t be dead.

Contrary to popular belief, cops are human. They get scared. They carry guns. They aren’t super-human. At least that’s what my black cop friend says.
