Where is there a written promise to be open in person? |
I, too, feel that the talk of community is false. Only teachers are being looked out for—not our children, and definitely not the impossible burden this places on families with working parents. |
Of course the July letter said nothing was set in stone. Butter July Zoom had a VERY different message. If a significant portion of the community feels duped and that the process has not been transparent, then there is a major communications problem. It is predictable that Alexandria City could see a slight rise in Covid during the summer and if that was the reason for an about face, then benchmarks should have been identified earlier in the summer. It is also predictable with flu season around the corner that opening the school in any form in October will be challenging. I am one of many who have lost faith in the leadership to make decisions in a transparent way. If you are part of this team, I would encourage you to rethink the communications strategy. |
I don’t believe there is. Only “hope to” and promises to reassess. Teachers aren’t going to be willing to come back until there’s a vaccine so it’s all a ruse. |
Ha. Good luck with that. |
April 30- “if we do have a difficult scenario in the fall, and we cannot return to school 100% in person, then we will provide as much notice as possible and we will be prepared. More we feel confident we can be on campus. What school is better situated than Burgundy to effect social distancing?”
- message from Jeff and Board |
Wow. We were considering Burgundy for our K student next year. This decision shows a lack of commitment to outdoor education. Hard pass. |
That’s an understatement. They are so committed to outdoor education they are requiring our kids to sit and stare at screens all day INSTEAD of going to school outside. |
Lots of emphatic statements about commitment to being on campus five days a week in person. Enough for a reasonable person to rely on. |
Emphatic statements from who? |
The Head of School and the Board of Trustees and the website (all Still up there) |
Well, they haven’t filled any of their hopes and desires and plans since this pandemic started, so I’ll believe it when I see it. |
Honestly, you all should be ashamed of yourselves. These comments are hateful and hurtful and are just plain wrong. Burgundy would not exist without these teachers. How is it possible that you value childcare for your kids over their families lives? Some of them have family members that could DIE if they caught Covid. I am so beyond disgusted reading these comments.
You are welcome to be upset about losing your money but EVERYONE in the entire WORLD is going through the same thing. You are not special. You are all acting so entitled and heartless and like big babies. Unbelievable. If i were one of them i would refuse to teach them at all now. |
July 21: "We continue to plan to be on campus. We’ll begin to hold more meetings on campus and prepare protocols by trying them out in person. We will be prepared, however, for whatever the situation is, and our plans may pivot on science and data and whether our local numbers remain similar, turn worse, or improve. A lot happens in a few weeks during the pandemic. We’ll be attuned to VA and health department guidance." VA and health department guidance has not changed in the past 2-3 weeks. If this decision is driven by lack of ability to hold classes safely in person, then that guidance would/should be communicated. If these decisions are driven by the health department guidance, that needs to be communicated better. |
Burgundy also would not exist without the tuition payments from the parents who have been blindsided and tricked and lied to |
