Given February - does anyone have recommendations for lighter Kdramas?

During Covid, watched these 3 - all under the lighter / comedic area and found they were entertaining but have also started some dud's and stopped or wish I had stopped earlier.

What's wrong with Secretary Kim?
Legends of Blue Sea
Her Private Life

I watched Crash Landing at the beginning of the pandemic and loved loved it. Since then, I've started MANY K (and other asian) dramas. The only other one I even finished was Itaewon Class. Everything else I had to stop watching as too silly, too young, too tough or mean guy/weak girl, too mismatched couple, etc etc. I'm about to give up.

List what you've started and given up on. I also started with CLOY, and have now watched about 12 dramas. I've really liked or loved almost all of them. I think there are a lot like the ones you've bolded. I've had good luck with the "slice of life" genre and sageuks (historical dramas) and avoid dramas with really young leads.

Descendants of the Sun was really hilarious and light but not silly. It's a romance. You have to suspend disbelief for some of the medical stuff, but it's worth it as the human relationships are authentic.
Chicago Typewriter is charming. It doesn't have the depth of CLOY, but it's a good story with cool historical flashbacks to 1930s Japanese occupation of Korea. The sets and clothing are fantastic. Also a romance.
Prison Playbook and Hospital Playlist are slice of life and so, so, terrific. Created by the same writer/director team. (They also did the celebrated Reply series.) I can't say enough good things about them. Funny and moving and wonderful.
My Country: The New Age is a wonderful sageuk that takes place at the start of the Joseon dynasty. The central relationship is between two boyhood friends of different social status, and it's fabulous. There is a lot of swordplay and political intrigue and some romance.
Mr. Sunshine is epic and beautiful. Really beautiful. A great story that takes place at the start of the Japanese occupation. The characters are complex and interesting.

At first, everything seems like a let-down after CLOY, but it's worth giving other dramas a chance. I've found that it often takes a few episodes before I get invested in the characters and the story, then I start to really get interested, a third or halfway in I binge to the end, then can't get them out of my head once I've finished.

I really enjoyed Descendants of the Sun. But I started watching it after finishing Mr. Sunshine. I needed something a little lighter because the last few episodes of Mr. Sunshine will absolutely gut you. It is a superb and beautiful series, though. I also recommend it highly!

So after "Crash Landing on You" I watched "It's Okay not to be Okay" and then "Itaewon Class" since someone on DCUM highly recommended it. CLOY is still my absolute favorite. I thought the others were interesting and different but I just love the storyline of CLOY.

Another recommendation - Fated to Love You (you can watch this on viki.com). It is so good, just finished the last couple episodes (20 in all). The first episode is a bit weird but I ended up loving every character. It's so good. More so a romantic comedy but also lots of drama. Main leads are in their 30s. The main male lead is really odd at first but I really grew to adore him. Characters are quirky but all mean well.

And whoever recommended The Last Empress kdrama series, thanks! I've been binge watching this since yesterday and can't stop! There a so many twists and turns. I am on episode 21 now, so many surprises, more so a thriller about an average stage actress who ends up marrying the emperor of present day Korea, which is a constitutional monarchy in this series.

I've seen it recommended a lot on Kdrama subreddit but can't find it streaming anywhere right now.

For those that are obsessed with CLOY, I’d recommend “What’s wrong with Secretary Kim.” You can watch it for free on Viki. The storyline is not as layered and tight as CLOY but the leads are swoon worthy. The lead actor, Park Seo Joon is quite talented and can easily play unrecognizable characters in other movies and dramas. I think his acting skills are superior to Hyun Bin even though Hyun Bin is the most handsome man alive. Once you watch this you’ll understand why he is so famous.

Agree with Park Seo Joon! His other stuff is good too - I recommend Yoon’s Kitchen 2 - a reality show and you’ll see what a great guy he is. Also Kill Me Heal Me - fun and funny show overall. Both are on Viki.
