| 8 episodes in. I loved the Aneesa character |
Me too, but I was really puzzled by her in the mock trial. Did she genuinely not have anything to say (ie, she and Ben aren’t a good match) or was she throwing it somehow? It just felt weird. |

Finished. LOVED it. The characters are all so good. Such strong female characters too.
Did we all know Paxton is 30 (!!!) in real life?!?! |
I think that scene was meant to show that she's not as academically gifted as Devi (doesn't have the ability to speak brilliantly on the fly like she does), so she's lacking that quality and would not be a great match for Ben. |
I wondered how old the Pax actor was when I noted his many forehead lines. |
| Love the show and my 13 yr old and I watched season 1 and there were a few questionably appropriate parts but I felt like those were fewer after the first episode or two. Is this season more problematic than the first one? I went with the first season because it was a good pandemic mother daughter thing but wonder if we should start season 2. |
Woohoo! Now I don't feel as bad for thinking he's hot
|
And that she's not driven by academic achievement in the same way. I think she just flubbed it, but wasn't phased by messing up so badly (though one would think she'd care a little about blowing it for her team). |
Much less inappropriate in season 2 — maybe nothing even. |
Agree. I’m skipping season one with my 12 year old. But am watching season 2. season 1 is all about her trying to lose her virginity right? She is only making out with people in season 2. They don’t make the point as much that she’s smart, so it does seem like all she thinks about are boys. But she also gives Paxton good advice to improve his work ethic. And she generally grows through the season. Really liked it. Watched all of season 2 and now watching with my DC since I know it’s ok for him. |
I think it was meant to give Ben a reason to be disappointed in her or frustrated with her, creating conflict. However, I agree it was poorly written, especially given how strong the rest of the season was. It just didn't feel believable or consistent. |
+1 I immediately looked up how old he was in the first episode of season one because I felt like such a sleevy old lady. Once I saw how old he is I felt way better! |
| Love this show. Love John McEnroe as narrator. Love Mindy Kaling's humor. Love that that it is a majority minority cast. |
| Ooh, my friend is in this! |
I love him as the narrator too and wonder how they convinced him to do this. He's so great at it and I think his voiceover makes all the difference, but I wonder if it was a hard sell. He hasn't done any type of acting/voiceover before, I don't think. |
