VA: First COVID-19 Case Confirmed

Furthermore, the Navy doesn't say where their person was tested.

Finally, VDH's tweet at 1:49 is still the most current reported info and it reports 8 cases, not 9.

VDH also didn't even bother tweeting about the 6th/7th case.

The news article for the Spotsylvania case mention testing and treatment in Rappahannock, as well as contact tracing down there. That wouldn't be the case if it was the same person that worked in Fall's Church.

Well would you look at that

"As of March 10, 2020 at 4:00 PM, the current number of COVID-19 cases in VIrginia remains at eight. The Navy and VDH issued separate press releases about the same case."

It’s 8 according to VDH update 15 minutes ago. The Navy guy is the DHA employee

Recapping again:

--Navy BUMED
--Loudoun County
--VA Beach couple #2
--VA Beach couple #1
--Spotsylvania
--City of Fairfax (spouse of below)
--Arlington person
--City of Fairfax (spouse of above)
--US Marine

So... tell me again what is double counted?

So then we have these 8:
--Navy BUMED/DHA (Falls Church)/Spotsylvania - in hospital in NoVA
--Loudoun County - at home
--VA Beach couple #2
--VA Beach couple #1
--City of Fairfax (spouse of below)
--Arlington person
--City of Fairfax (spouse of above)
--US Marine

Probably will have too many to track soon.

Why would you assume that? It’s hot and sunny in LA and FL right now.

And their outbreaks are very controlled. So is Georgia's. And Arizona's.

Trump said that the virus will go away when the warm weather come, like a miracle it will disappear from our shores.

Don't say that, Pence and the gang came on TV and told us that they are doing a great job, they are so unworried that they will continue to shake hands with people.

The only possible miracle at this point is for Trump to disappear from our shores.

Do we have any information on how the BUMED guy was exposed? I think I saw somewhere that it said he had no recent travel. Is this presumed community spread?

WaPo reporting that Rep Don Beyer and his wife are self-quarantining after dinner with a DC friend who tested positive. Not sure which case that would be.

No. And I work with DHA and BUMED personnel, several of whom are now on “medical leave” and it hasn’t been communicated how the person got it

The Navy patient works about a half mile from my house. I’d like to know more about where he got it and where he’s been lately

When someone is found to have the measles, they quickly publish flight numbers and timelines for what hours they were where. Why is this virus that is more deadly so much more secretive?

It is really unlikely that he’s frequented public places near DHHQ. It is a large complex with cafeterias, dry cleaner, gym, etc. Except for a holiday or going away lunch up at 2941 most civilians and active duty military drive, park, go into the building, and then come back out to go to their car to leave for the evening. There are those who who shuttle to/from Dunn Lorring metro but if it’s the patient from Fredericksburg, I don’t see that being the case here.

The 2345 crystal dr one is just office space. Amazon people moved in there temporarily though there are lots of different tenants there. I'm in the one next door, connected by a hallway. Both building tenants go to the Starbucks in the middle. It was still jan packed on Friday and Monday when I went. That Starbucks is such a high traffic place that it frequently has 20 mobile orders sitting on its counter even as people keep on coming in to pick up theirs.

Same here, PP. We must be neighbors. Sure would be nice to know if he’s been grocery shopping after work or lunching out in the neighborhood.

Do they treat patients at BUMED or is it just an administrative office?

No they don’t treat anyone at that location. It’s the Headquarters for the Defense Health Agency
