Agree 100%. I would give up on this show now except that I read in the first week's reviews that the first six episodes were dull but if you stick with it beyond that it gets much better. Here's hoping. |
Actually, that's a really good point. The video appeal is ridiculous. Canada should simply start having every refugee with a missing relative start making a video appeal to Gilead to release their child/spouse/parent/whoever. |

anyone see the new one yet?
best episode of the season so much happended. again, what is Nick? what is the significance of being an "eye"? |
|
Watched it. An eye is a spy. But I don't get how Nick is so important now. Wasn't his background story that he was desperate for a job and that's how he ended up in Gilead? I knew he was a spy, but it just seems out of the blue that Nick was a crusade soldier.
If he was so important, why was he just a driver for so many years? I don't get it. |
| Anyone else getting sick of June's creepy stares and smirks in up close camera shots this season? it's weird. |
Yes. But I cant stop watching. |
I don't get it either. Maybe the desperate for a job was a cover, after all, he was a spy? But wouldn't he be known? It looks like he was leading those troops, so not just a random footsolider. |
Ha, this. |
| So is the other commander (Formerly known as Elliot Stabler ?) bisexual? Ugh, this latest episode was depressing. I hope this season gets better. |
|
Yesterday was super creepy. I wonder if it was creepier for us because we live here.

I hope they show more of the DC part of Gilead. I want to know more about that family. Why are they raising their children that way? The little girl was just full of confidence and creativity. She was not submissive around her father/other men. How can girls grow up like that then have it be expected to be a wife?
The commanders wife also didn’t seem submissive. She was a high power corporate lawyer after all. Yet they were extremely cruel to their handmaids and the handmaids in general. |
That was my distinct impression. |
Same here. Re:Nick - I wonder if he’s a spy already? It seems weird that when they were talking with June they already knew who he was (the dad, an eye and now commander) then they said they wouldn’t work with him because of his past? You’d think they’d know all of that before agreeing with June to meet him. Or maybe part of his deal was that June would be completely cut out of the planning to protect her? Aunt Lydia???? Is she good? Is she bad? Damn, I almost geared up when she was talking about doing God’s work and impacting just one person. Plus, she really seemed empathetic towards June and the face mask. Serena - I wish she burned too. She’s so damn selfish. She actually wants to raise her daughter surrounded by women with their mouths stapled shit? |
Ok, I am just going to admit it. I kind of hope commander Waterford had to submit to sexual favors for Elliot. Just to make sure he knows how it feels. It was all so creepy. And I am kind of pissed off that June kneeled. I know she is trying to save both her daughters, but she could have encouraged an uprising right then. I guess the pause was her deciding between acting now and acting later. I do not get the nick thing at all. Seems like they just made this part up. |
I keep trying to ID the cogs who will participate in the revolution of my dreams. Aunt Lydia’s stock is up this week, Serena’s (and therefore her cowed husband’s as well) down, Nick’s down (although he will potentially be in the best position for a big impact if he does turn out to be a good guy in disguise), Commander Lawrence stays the same. I’d like to see more evidence of a handmaid/Martha army mobilizing with their secret bomb makers and technology disrupters. |
