I guess you’re referring to Bethesda. Because Crown is brand new, no different than Pike and Rose or Bethesda facades. Not sure how one is better when they have same stores, exteriors, etc. But school assignments and caliber of housing do differ. This house is much nicer than the rundown Bethesda homes, but schools worse in Crown. |
Here's Fairfax county's data from 2017 Of those who work outside of the county, a little more than a third are commuting to DC. Nearly as many go to Alexandria/Arlington. The last 1/3 go to PWC, MD and Loudoun. https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/demographics/commuting-patterns Here is MoCo: https://mwejobs.maryland.gov/admin/gsipub/htmlarea/uploads/Montgomery_WorkforceRegion_Commuting_Patterns.pdf Less than 20% of their commuters go into DC. In Frederick, more people work in Gaithersberg than DC! In fact more than 8x more Frederick residents commute to Montomery County than they do to DC. Only 2.7% of frederick residents commute to DC. https://mwejobs.maryland.gov/admin/gsipub/htmlarea/uploads/Frederick_WorkforceRegion_Commuting_Patterns.pdf MD's data is all here: https://www.dllr.state.md.us/lmi/wiacommuting/ |

What difference does all this data make? The fact is they are making huge stone Gothic like, very nice looking single family homes in Gaithersburg and they are selling. OP is clearly not of a sound mind when she can't tell a difference between a SFH and a town-home.
No doubt she would be stunned at the prices of brand new town-homes there too, which are above 750K. https://www.mihomes.com/new-homes/district-of-columbia/washington-dc/gaithersburg/crown?utm_source=googlemybusiness&utm_campaign=product-community&utm_medium=social-organic&utm_content=text&utm_term=consumer |
"You people" ... um okay. I won't even address that.
So yes people commute. Most people, NO. I get maybe you're new to this area but, people move here (DC area) for jobs. Many jobs are in DC, not most not all. Once intelligent get experience they move to where they want to live and get a job close to home. Sorry you aren't there yet. If everybody or most people commuted you would need 6 more lane. |
Yup, I worked in DC early on in my career but worked in MOCO making more money a few yrs later. Got another job in VA after that and then now back to MOCO. I'm in my mid 40s now so I'm pretty established in my career; and so are my friends, all of whom work in the suburbs with the exception of two who work for the Feds. |

Jobs exist only in DC? Laughable. That's a joke.
There are 6M people living in the greater DC Metro area. Out of those, 690k live in DC proper. There are 770k jobs in DC according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Do the math. So, there are millions of jobs outside of DC. |

A large gov't contractor is moving within 5 min of these houses. I'm positive their employees make 100+ per year. The area is nice and very walkable. It is 2 min away from the ICC. You can get to most areas without traffic in 30 min or less...including DC (via GT pkwy or Cabin John) and Tysons.
The issue is traffic and schools. Personally I would not want the most expensive house in a neighborhood. The house is gorgeous....but I pass. |
Which gov't contractor is coming in? |
It has free shuttle to metro and rapid transit buses go through it. |
| So gentrification is okay and living in Gaithersburg is not okay?.. |
Address what? The bolded means “previous posters” so maybe you must be new here and to the area but continue to be dense. Actually, I’ve lived in this area my entire life. So wrong again. Again, it’s obvious you aren’t from here and do not commute. Get on 270 and 495 during rush hour and then explain to everyone commuting that the reason they are commuting must be bc they aren’t intelligent and experienced in their careers. I choose to commute bc I don’t have a problem with driving like some ppl do. I choose to live in the suburbs bc I wanted more than a 1bd 1ba condo with ridiculous fees or an overpriced sh*tshack. So did many others hence the traffic. If you aren’t commuting then you have no idea what you are talking about. P.s. There have been so many petitions, articles, etc to widen 270 and local lanes. So take your fake attempt at being passive aggressive and go study the DCUM abbrev (that’s abbreviations in case you don’t understand). |
Exactly. And don’t let crime happen in these gentrified areas bc then everyone is shocked and confused. |
Crown to Metro Center is 34 minutes at 7:30 am on a Saturday according to google maps. With even a modicum of traffic, never mind rush, it is a lot more. Some of the travel times quoted here just aren't realistic. |
Is this a joke? Is this why cities are exploding and home values are increasing? |
And yet, no one would blink at a $1.5M house in DC. |
