Non FCV Parent and Non Loudoun Parent I agree with all this 07 talk seeming to be a bit much. Quite a few threads turned into 07 talk like it will be the last age group ever to play soccer. I guess there are no 08s, 09s, 10s and now 11s. Loudoun 07s do look very very good. The parents of the DDs all seem to be making a stand to stay at Loudoun. Who can blame them as their team is fantastic. It is their choice on where their DD plays but they seem very insecure about their decision and have to keep justifying why they will stay at Loudoun and why FC Virginia will be horrible. Multiple threads and posts! Also how are they so sure that FC Virginia would even want their DDs? Now FCV 07 do seem to need a few players. The Loudoun 07 parents who have been beating the dead horse say they would never go to FC Virginia, I think a few players would. DDs that don’t start may think they have a chance to start at FC Virginia or Washington Spirit and leave Loudoun. The other idea here for FC Virginia is there is more out there than Loudoun Soccer and your DDs. I am sure they can get a few kids from each of CYA, SYC, Herndon, ODFC, McLean, Potomac, Winchester, FPYC, VSA or somewhere. There will be enough talent to fill an already stacked Loudoun 07 roster and an FC Virginia 07 roster. I’m not sure who will be better in three years. Washington Spirit 07s, Loudoun 07s or FC Virginia 07s but what I do think is they don’t have to keep going on and on about 07s and trying to justify the decisions they are making. As I stated they seem very insecure. As someone said 07s aren’t ECNL or DA yet, so let’s not rush things and let the DDs enjoy their tournament this weekend and let the kids be kids! Perhaps pick up this conversation in 2 to 3 years and someone could say I told you so. |

The discussions about Loudoun 07s are on topic given the title of this thread. They are they next group to go to ECNL. I think they Loudoun parents are saying the struggle ends here because they are staying.
If that’s true it’s big news in youth soccer. Loudoun was always the pipeline for FCV and this 07 group at Loudoun is really strong. That is why there are hundreds of posts on this. People write about what they care about. |
FCV Poster replying to his own post now? Desperate sock puppet. |
The PP must be new to the scene. We are non-Loudoun, non-FCV, and it will be a nice "I told you so" for Loudoun 07 Red in a few months to finally see FCV get its come uppance for the history of bad behavior if you have been following things for some time. If the Loudoun top half holds strong, then yes it will be a sea change. A few B types might think a move there will improve their life, but let them find out. The PP is a little niave to think anyone near the beltway is trekking to FCV. There are FIVE nearby elite options already for those players. So without Loudoun 07 inflow, this will be a real change in FCV and an attitude adjustment. I have experience/exposure with these clubs, but DD plays in a different age group and looking forward to seeing how it plays out. |
| Ironically one factor is the FCV parents bad attitude on these boards. Whether accurate or not it displays a bad culture regarding the club and makes it less desirable. |
Yeah, it’s the same, predictable sock puppet from other threads. So predictable and sad. |
No one said Gabarra had anything to do with the DA. The quote was "Are you saying the national team players on Spirit's pro team are not any good because their team does not have a winning record?" in response to the original statement "At some point development turns in to wins or the "developers" are not doing their job or the "developees" are just not that good, you pick." The response to that was "the developer is not doing his job, which is why he lost it." Where in those statements does anyone reference Jim having anything to do with the DA? To all the bashers (on both sides), you do know that there are families that have players at both clubs, families of players that may be team mates of your DD. This board is anon so we are all so tough and high and mighty, but would you say these sorts of things to their faces, the faces of the team mates of your DD who have children at both clubs? If yes, then ok, if no you might want to rethink all the vitriol that you spout here and take in to consideration others feelings. |
| What's the cost of Loudoun or McLean ECNL program and FCV DA program? Washington Spirit has breakdown of their cost on their web page, but I did not see the cost for the others. |
| There is another takeaway from the OP that has largely gone ignored. This is a parent who is obviously looking to recruit and in so doing is trying to actively replace kids on their DDs current team. Isn’t that a pleasant atmosphere. |
| if you go back and read the big soccer forum I and II before girls da and this dedicated soccer board was made, you will see a 2-3 yr history of parents exposing some of the things going on with coaches and parents at FCV .... it takes a while to do but speaks volumes. some crazy stuff and felt bad for the kids |
I'm not at FCV. I would say there is a huge amount of bad attitude on these boards to go around. Not from Arlington either. I have noticed the Arlington parents SEEM to show the least insecurity and hostility. All things being equal, I'm looking closely at their program for next year. |
That cost is an estimate. Spirit will easily cost $10,000 once the travel is added on, all while every roster is maxed out to the gills and your child may not be rostered for ridiculous reasons mostly having to do with spreading around play time on a roster that large. Just buyer be ware. |
All the programs cost the same. The real cost is in the travel anyway. All the clubs attend the same showcases which have the same travel demands. There are no bargains, either by club or by league when comparing ECNL to DA. |
The poster is asking about what programs cost. Spirit is $10,000. Let the other parents from other clubs post their costs too, rather than speculate. If they are all that much, then that's what they are. |
| I'd heard VDA was more reasonable. Does anyone know its cost? |
