I actually don't think so.
The W's are equal to the top privates but they both (W's & privates ) are way behind the Magnets.

MCPS is working hard to make sure that this won't be the case in 5 years.

The Magnets are just filled with kids willing to make the drive from the west county. And you can't have both sides of the argument and say there are systemic triggers holding low income and minority kids down and then say that rich parents should know that there is no risk sending their kids to school with those kids to the east county school. If schools like Einstein, Wheaton and Blair are as good as people make them out to be why do people keep wanting to ship poor kids over to the West County and break up the Ws? Out of spite, jealousy or bitterness? If having poor kids doesn't stop them from being good schools, keep them.

W's are mostly overrated. They ratings often range between 4 and 7. Nothing to get excited about.

Sure, the W's overrated but everyone says they have the best drugs.

I'd pick a W school over your school any day, any time.

Most people would and every person at a W did. The parents at the W’s can afford to send their kids to any school in the DC reigon. They chose that school. Most of the parents in the rest of the schools save BCC live where they can afford and pick the least bad option. With few exceptions the W’s were never in the cards for 95% of those people and that is what drives their bitterness. Everybody hates on the party they weren’t invited to.

No bitterness here at all. We had a 750K budget which we knew wouldn't go far in the W areas so we picked a house and a school in upcounty which we love. I think most people are like us. On the surface, it's nice to know that your child is attending a school that is rated a 9/10 but most of us know what really drives those stats. Our school is a 7/8 and we know it's not because of the quality of the teaching but all about the demographics. Most smart and reasonable people know this so they don't go crazy or go bitter by the W's. The people who think that the ratings are driven by anything else are morons.

As a 7/8 your school surpasses both Withman and BCC.

And Whitman is an 8 and BCC a 9 in the overall score. Some of us value, not just the simple averages of test scores, but a measure of how the school does is serving all its students.

Cute.

Oh but you have to remember that W parents dismiss anything that puts upcounty schools before their schools, so they generally reject Niche as unreliable. If it ranked all the W schools above all the other MCPS HS's, they'd say Niche was super reliable.

Ok, here's the same schools as rated by GreatSchools. Now you've got two sets of rankings, which at least have some objective criteria behind them (even if you disagree with the methodology).
Churchill-10
BCC-9
Poolesville-9
Walter Johnson-9
Wootton-9
Whitman-8
Quince Orchard-8
Northwest-8
Richard Montgomery-7
Montgomery Blair-6

Sometimes "no data" is better than "wrong data"
