Travel Soccer teams around NOVA let's discuss Part II

Thanks! FCV WS posters start using that thread. You are monopolizing the board.

Ok so we have now banned CCL bashing, VYS bashing, FCV and WS bashing, and all pompous boasting in general. I would like to see more posts about how not to embarass weaker teams, and more efficient carpooling strategies for starbucks lovers.

If thats all you want to talk about go stand at any suburban bus stop and talk with the helicopter moms all wearing baseball caps and yoga pants, drinking starbucks in a metal mug, and talking to the other helicopter moms....all waiting to wave goodby to their 8th grade sons.

They'll love to talk to you about carpools

Who here has had a crush on the parent of another child and actually made a move? Like, not a overtly sexual move, just a "the players can hang out at my place and you're welcome as well" kind thing.

And this is what you get.

This is stupid, can we go back to trashing other clubs now please?

I'm guessing your kid is still in rec because once you're in travel, you realized it's better to make your move at an out-of-town tournament. What happens at JeffCup, stays at JeffCup.

I've heard this so many times - does it *really* happen? I must be so naive. I have three travel players and have never seen it, but it was probably happening right in front of me and I never realized it.

So nothing happened, but at my DS U10 practice a couple years ago I was at another field watching teenage boys play looking at the types of drills and overall skill level they had. I was thinking I would see what to expect if I decided to stay with the club(I didn't). So anyway this lady comes up to me and ask which one is mine(presumably she was new since these kinds of teams stay together). So I explain and we get to talking about the club, while were talking we move over to family and such. I notice she is being very friendly, and I start to touch her shoulder and such. She was receptive and we continued this banter during DS practice. Never went anywhere, not really sure I had a chance.

There are definitely some parents who try to make a move. The worse that happened to me was this one time, I was at my kid's practice and noticed this awkward guy that I've never saw before watching the boys a little too intently. I went over to see why he was there, and asked him so questions to see if he even had a kid at the facility that would justify him being there. He gave me some line about just watching the drills and then before I knew it, he started touching my shoulder. Needless to say, I left there pretty quickly and made sure the other parents knew to keep an eye on him. Luckily, I haven't seen him since then but it still creeps me out.

I banged the CCL Guy and he told me BRYC was better than VYS.

I only said that when you agreed to let me walk through your front door after I already used your back door.
