Because Ivanka's black silky nightgown is politics and Joe and Jill Biden releasing a statement about their imploding family is entertainment. Duh!

ROFL

What is the Ivanka nightgown bruhaha?

11 page thread on Ivanka's nightgown in Political forum. While this thread is "Entertainment."

Ivanka's thread should have been moved here, or "Beauty and Fashion."

"The divorce proceedings do not elaborate on Hunter’s alleged conduct the night before Kathleen threw him out, but the court documents do include some explosive allegations. Specifically, Kathleen alleges that Hunter has been “spending extravagantly on his own interests,” which, she says, include drugs, alcohol, strip clubs, gifts for other women and prostitutes.

The documents also state that the family has “shocking and overwhelming” debts, including tax debt, maxed-out credit cards, and double mortgages on multiple properties."

What a train wreck.

I feel bad for him that he was always in the shadow of his brother and now even more so...

Parents do their best to raise good, hard-working, responsible children, but it does not always turn out that way. Once a child is a grown-up adult the responsibility is on them.

This bears repeating. Not the parents' fault folks, especially when the parents appear to have done the best job they could, and to have provided plenty of love and support. A grown man is responsible for himself. The grandparents can invest their love and support in the next generation now.

I would have agrees with you had Biden not released a press release saying he was thrilled they found each other. Gross. The whole thing is a nightmare and so confusing for their kids. The VP and his wife would have been better served saying they were focused in their grandchildren and left it at that. Now we know the real reason Biden didn't run.

I think Hunter's drug addiction, prostitute affinity, and pending divorce were reason enough. His relationship with his SIL is nothing compared to his general behavior.

Clearly the Biden's released the statement to get ahead of the scsndal. I'm sure they disapprove, but if they said so it would be an even bigger story. I'm actually surprised she would date him, surely she is aware of his issues. There is a strong history of addiction in the Biden family.

Joe Biden has no reason to protect his public persona. He's out of office so if this is not how he really feels, his comments are very unfortunate. Public vs private persona. It wreaks havoc on members of a politician's family. Not usually Biden, but politicians have a highly developed public persona at the expense - almost complete elimination - of any private persona.

Hunter's kids are older. So, maybe this isn't as confusing and horrific for them as we were making it out to be.

It's still bizarre, but it's not like the kids are teeny tiny. Their youngest is 16.

You need to trot on over to the relationship forum and read all the stories about adults feeling abandoned when their parents go on to raise second families.

Honestly, those in the 16-22 year old range are likely to feel mortified by the report of their father's behavior -- drug use, financial irresponsibility, repeated infidelity. 2 of the kids still have to finish college, so I"m sure there's a lot of anxiety about whether their college opportunities will be diminished because of inability to pay tuition. Also, the youngest is in private high school still, so that's got to be nerve-wracking,wondering if your family will be able to continue paying your private school tuition or whether you will have to switch to a new, public high school.

You can bet that women over the age of 16 are going to understand the reality of their Mom having to kick out their dad for irresponsible behavior and then Mom being left financially destitute by him after basically giving up a career all these years.

I realize these are the problems of the rich, and there are kids in the world that suffer far more, but let's not kid ourselves and say that the kids are old enough that they won't suffer stress and embarrassment.
