Obama Admin under pressure to provide "hacking" proof

I get phishing requests from time to time--are the Russians trying to hack me?

No one at the RNC was as stupid as Podesta.

But, we are told all the time that the Dems are so much smarter than the GOPers. You surely are mistaken.

You know, Podesta is just another one of those Dems who refuses to take responsibility for when he screws up. Where's Podesta's announcement that his lack of internet savvy played a major role in this entire affair? Where is his mea culpa?

No where. A typical craven Dem.

It's like on election night when Podesta already knew HRC was going to lose. He comes out and gives the Dem crowd false hope, "we'll wait until all the votes are counted", because he's just as dishonest as Obama and HRC are.

In fact, when Podesta received the fake Gmail request to change his password, he didn't trust it. He asked one of his aides who is is supposed to be a computer expert about it. That guy replied back that it was a legitimate email and that Podesta should change his password immediately. However, it turns out that was a typo and that he meant that it was an "illegitimate" email and that Podesta should change his password via Gmail's normal processes and turn on two-factor authentication.

Further, it remains to be seen whether the RNC was hacked. Several sources believe that it was and the fact that nothing from the RNC was leaked is apparently one of the reasons the intelligent community believes the hack was aimed at harming Clinton. Obviously, having confidential RNC documents would be very helpful to anyone wanting to influence incoming Chief of Staff Priebus.

I guess the RNC's defense against phishing and hacking is that they don't know how to use email, other than to forward dippy political chain emails to each other.

And you believe this story why? Seems like a standard CYA attempt.

Absolutely. It's an obvious attempt at CYA. Read the entirety of the email in context. Also, accidentally typing "a legitimate" rather than "an illegitimate" requires several mistaken keystrokes, not just one.

But the IT guy was just taking a page from the DNC playbook: when busted for a mistake or misdeed, always deny and/ or deceive, rather than accept responsibility.

I'm unclear on your logic. The email in which the phishing email is described as "legitimate" exists. Podesta didn't lie about that. Are you suggesting that the IT guy is lying about it being a typo? In either case, Podesta's ass is covered. It seems to me that the IT guy is taking responsibility by saying his error led to the hack.

I'm suggesting that, if the IT guy says it was a typo, then he is indeed lying to save face. It defies common sense that the problem was a typo if you actually read his email. He just straight-up gave horribly wrong advice. I'm also suggesting that the DNC and Podesta have an obligation to hire competent staff (particularly in matters that may implicate crucial foreign relations), and they clearly failed to do so. (It was entirely foreseeable that governments and others would try to hack these email accounts, and they should have had sufficient security in place.) Finally, I'm suggesting that, in any case, Podesta handled the phishing email poorly. Most of us would simply never click a link in an email and enter our password. (I don't even bother to call IT with such emails; I just hit delete.)

Yes I figured someone was going to bring this old excuse up. Just a flunky taking the fall for Podesta. Even if the flunky is at fault, what you're saying is that the IT staffer working for DNC or Podesta was completely incompetent at his job. So the buck still stops with Podesta.
