This is not pertinent to this discussion nor is it appropriate in our country. I am as conservative as they come and I am appalled when I hear people make these types of comments. We are still a nation which purports to respect religious freedom and that includes Muslims. Please do not jump to conclusions about who instigated these attacks.

I didn't write this but I don't see anything in his statement about the Boston attack. He is still angry, as he should be, that we were attacked. The facts are, it was 12 Saud men that did it, and the extremists we fight are indeed Muslim. Truth is truth.

Speak for yourself. The extremists I fight are white people determined to destroy this country from within. Which is part of the oath we swear to uphold, actually, "enemies AT HOME and abroad."

+1. I just read that an eight year old was one of those killed. I can't talk about this in our house - my child is too young to understand so DH and I are being quiet and the news is off. This thread is where I'm coming to share my grief. Can you all just start a hate-speech sub thread if you want to fling shit. It just seems so disrespectful. We all have our knee jerk fears and worries about who might be behind it. I worry pretty much all the time now. You can't fly, you can't run a marathon, you can't do anything without wondering if the crowd or your activity has made you a target. I think about my kids growing up in this world and wonder WTF have I done inviting children to such a monster of a place.

Someone just posted the old Fred Rogers poster - look for the helpers. When you see news that is scary, look for the helpers, there are always helpers. Are any of us, on this thread, helpers? Or just haters.

No, not necessarily, but terrorists are categorized according to their ideologies. McVeigh was pretty categorically right-wing.

Those who target the government, yes. Also those who target racial minorities. It's a key part of their beliefs that the government is illegitimate because it's run by Jews and/or socialists. That's about as right-wing as it comes. I suppose there could be left-wing terrorists, but they usually chain themselves to trees or block whaling ships, I honestly can't think of examples where they kill people.

Rudolph was an absorption protester.

It's not "automatic". It's a matter of their motivation.

My guess is that a bombing in Boston on tax day is a right wing domestic terrorist.
