I'm pretty sure that's what they thought about the Twin Towers and the Washington Monument. But keep on thinking your hate is sanctioned by God and theirs is evil. |
Bigoted and hateful people aren't bothered by facts. They'll just say it's an Obama conspiracy. |
Speak for yourself. The extremists I fight are white people determined to destroy this country from within. Which is part of the oath we swear to uphold, actually, "enemies AT HOME and abroad." |
Because we're not so blinded by hate and stupidity that our rods and cones no longer function, apparently. |
Please, please stop all of the racial and religious hatred. We are our own worst enemies. Just stop, already. |
Timothy McVeigh. Jared Loughner. The people who shot up the synagogue in Chicago a few years ago. The people who shot up the Jewish day care center in California around the same time. The people who bomb abortion clinics. The dude who shot the doctor in his church. That's just off the top of my head, but feel free to update yourself on the goings-on of the violent right in between trolling: http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/hate-map |
+1. I just read that an eight year old was one of those killed. I can't talk about this in our house - my child is too young to understand so DH and I are being quiet and the news is off. This thread is where I'm coming to share my grief. Can you all just start a hate-speech sub thread if you want to fling shit. It just seems so disrespectful. We all have our knee jerk fears and worries about who might be behind it. I worry pretty much all the time now. You can't fly, you can't run a marathon, you can't do anything without wondering if the crowd or your activity has made you a target. I think about my kids growing up in this world and wonder WTF have I done inviting children to such a monster of a place. Someone just posted the old Fred Rogers poster - look for the helpers. When you see news that is scary, look for the helpers, there are always helpers. Are any of us, on this thread, helpers? Or just haters. |
The guy who shot up the Sikh temple - he was a right wing white supremacist. |
Pardon my ignorance, but is each terrorist automatically assumed to be a crazy right-winger? |
Thank you. I would like to think we are still a nation of helpers notwithstanding the ugliness that rears its head on this forum. |
No, not necessarily, but terrorists are categorized according to their ideologies. McVeigh was pretty categorically right-wing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_McVeigh |
Those who target the government, yes. Also those who target racial minorities. It's a key part of their beliefs that the government is illegitimate because it's run by Jews and/or socialists. That's about as right-wing as it comes. I suppose there could be left-wing terrorists, but they usually chain themselves to trees or block whaling ships, I honestly can't think of examples where they kill people. |
Some good news - 6 Newtown runners have checked in as OK

Are right wing Jewish people considered to be, not really Jewish? |
Rudolph was an absorption protester. It's not "automatic". It's a matter of their motivation. My guess is that a bombing in Boston on tax day is a right wing domestic terrorist. |
