How do consequences ever "arise" if everyone is looking the other way at fraud, abuse, etc.? |
It is a problem if a school is overcrowded. I think the transfers should be minimal if a school is already at or above capacity. And people should not lie about their address- plain and simple. Just as you shouldn't lie on your taxes or use a fake ID. It is frustrating to people who do their best to follow rules, to see other people lie and take advantage of a situation.
However, always remember those lying have to live with themselves and those of us who work hard and try to be law abiding citizens probably sleep better.. |
Education inequality continues the social and economic inequality.
So those children are not worthy enough, therefore most likely also not smart enough. Intelligence is related to socio economic status. Op has worked hard to find a neighborhood that is exclusive enough. |
Please tell me this is meant to be sarcastic. |
BS! Some of us strategically purchased our homes for the schools in the district we live. We paid higher home prices and taxes knowing we would be able to attend these schools LEGALLY. You cannot just choose to ship your kid off to any school you want because its better than where you are. Thats not how life works. Its not snobbery its reality...get a grip. Life is not free and unfortunately even public education is not free. |
Public education is free. The money goes into a big pot and the county divides it so all children benefit.
Some rules are meant to be broken. Some are reminders of a more brutal time, like segregation laws, laws on where to sit when you travel on a bus and have the wrong skin color. School is where children should be. Stop justifying stupidity by saying life is not fair or by justifying how your child is more worthy of an education. Your kid did not do anything to earn the coveted position of being your kid. Legally we are all equal and worth the same |
You live in your nice home in your nice area with your great school. You get all the benefits you paid for. Why do you care so much what someone else does - particularly when you don't even know if this person has a COSA or other situation? |
Sure, we all equal, public education is free and all kids have access to education in one of the best school system in the country. You want event better for your kids - work harder, assess your priority, do something legal for your kids. Don't set a wrong examples for your own kids. You're the one responsible for your kids education, no one else. Rules are rules - kids go to school based on the address of the property they live, accept it. Don't like it - try to change the rules, but not break it. Trust me, I've been there - you don't want to live in the country with no rules or laws or boundaries, it's cruel. |
If they arent paying....its ILLEGAL to take those benefits even for public school. Thats why there are laws for this specific topic. By your rationale I could steal someone's SS number because hey- they get their benefits and I should get them too right? ![]() I made a statement about the ppl who are doing this deceptively on purpose. Not for special legal circumstances they have been granted. |
"You're the one responsible for your kids education, no one else. "
No, actually, we're all responsible for everybody's kids' education. That's what makes it the public school system. |
I think you missed my point. Be happy with what you have. |
"By your rationale I could steal someone's SS number because hey- they get their benefits and I should get them too right?"
First, if you stole somebody's SS number for employment, then you would pay taxes and they would get the benefits. So that's not analogous. Second, if you stole somebody's SS check, then you would have the money instead of them. Is a child enrolled in your child's school against the rules stealing education from your child? Third, this is the public school system. Schools where your child gets an education in return for your payment are private schools. Fourth, the school district you live in is Montgomery County (or whatever county); not a particular school. |
And we all fulfill this responsibility by paying taxes. Public education IS available for everybody. But if you want extra - you're in your own. |
They pay the same taxes as you. |
