Child's friend confessed family faked living in our good school cluster

Agreed.

Are you sure they're breaking the rules? The boundaries don't always make sense, and they could be "driven in" because their parents prefer that to a long bus ride, or the student could very well be attending on a COSA.

(yes, MoCo has "far out" suburbs)

It seems like since you don't have all the facts, it's a total MYOB situation. Now, if your neighbor came to you bragging about how they specifically used their parents' address to get their kids into a different school, then you could report that because you know they are breaking the rules. But your kid telling you his/her friend lives further away? Not good enough evidence. Move on.

Because we were homeless but needed to put down a physical address on the paperwork. We would be the first car in the drop off line each morning and all of our shit was packed into the back seat and Im sure people knew but no one snitched. I got an excellent education because my mom, a single parent, did what she had to do. Just be glad that you can afford a home even though you feel you are sacrificing. Some people out there have it rough and dont need your busy body ass making things worse!

You need to relax. Or, in words you might relate better to: chill the f*uck out.

Oh I see weve got tweedle dee OP and tweedle dumb PP. Maybe you two busy bodies can join the circus since youve got so much free time on your hands to worry about what others are doing.

You are a loser. You may be successful in life, but you still miss the point.

The tax issue is what bothers me.

I don't know. I'd have a hard time convicting another parent for doing what they thought was best for their child, unless it was something like witholding medical care for religious reasons. But trying to get your kid the best education? In this country? Not saying it's right, just saying I wouldn't want to personally be the whistle blower on that one.

Please. I have plenty of retired neighbors paying taxes. If a good student really wants to be in my district and have nvolved parents, by all means join the masses. We are talking public school here folks. Education and good schools should not be limited to the wealthy.

You hit the nail on the head. The snobbery on this thread is disgusting.

Please. What if every single 'good student' from Washington metropolitan area suddenly decides to be in your district? How would you like a class size of 500?

How can you be certain the family doesn't have a COSA. I know two families that live in one area of MoCo and send their kids to schools outside their home boundary. MYOB. Additionally, how does this kid's circumstances impact your life other than make you "feel upset"? Yet, you will make it your business to impact his or her life in a much bigger way? Man, you are a piece of work!

If you want smaller class sizes go private. I went to an elite new england prep school and in one of my classes we only had 3 students.

I am this PP - I should say, each of these families have permission for their kids to go to the schools they are attending - nothing illegal.

Agreed. Op's sense of entitlement befuddles me.

If the family lives in Montgomery County, which the OP seems to allow for, they are paying the same taxes.

I want reasonable class sizes, where every child is able to learn. School boundaries exist for a reason, taking into account the number of prospective students living in the area.
