Perhaps you are not willfully misreading the law, but it has consistently been interpreted that the child + primary caregiver must live in DC. A primary caregiver can be a parent, custodian or another person like a grandmother, but they MUST live in DC, as must the child.
Really, it's not that hard. If the kid goes home and goes to bed in Maryland, he's not eligible to go to school in DC. Period. |
Probably someone she thought she could control. Having met the woman before , something just never seemed right about anything she had a hand in. I believe it was her daughter who approached me and tried to sell me bootleg DVDs in front of the school. The school store sold nothing but candy, ice scream and sodas and the principal's office always appeared to be buried under junk. This school also had a huge cheating scandal that was swept under the rug. She could not have done this alone, whoever the school secretary or registrar is has to be held accountable also. Surely there is some fraudulent paperwork involved. |
Mom is a PG county resident. the fool even has an extensive court history . (Maryland Judiciary Court Search ) In this case they are as guilty as sin. Campbell thought she could get over on the system, but her own arrogance got her first. by running the school she did what she wanted , but after being fired her misdeeds came to light. It's funny but even her daughter who worked at the school somehow is no longer allowed onto the premises. Genetics |
Yes, absolutely, 100%. I would also add, how is anyone a "primary caregiver" if the child does not spend the majority of time living in their home and being cared for by them? Wherever the child spends the majority of each week, and whoever is caring for the child in that case, is the primary caregiver. If you're the mom/dad, you live in DC, but your child lives in MD with grandma and is dropped off every day by grandma, goes home every night to grandma... that child does NOT live in DC, nor should they enroll in DC public schools as a DC resident. And if this arrangement comes to light, that's it, you give up your slot and pay up back tuition. |
The granddaughter is not and has never been a resident of the District of Columbia. It only takes a moment to do an online search and it will detail the mother's residence is her grandmother's home. Obviously her story fell apart in court and she tried to backtrack to cover up her lies. Having dealt with this woman in the past this is not a surprise. Campbell is the same principal who charged parents $195 / month for aftercare only to funnel the money to her daughter , Kim McAllister and other favorites. Anyone familiar with aftercare programs knows that payments are to be made to the city which distributes paychecks to the employees. We are witnessing generations of deceit in action with this case. Campbell has facilitated an institution of cheating, stealing and now fraud. The only remaining question is who helped her, b/c the kid had to have had fraudulent vaccination paperwork which undoubtedly was kknowingly created by her staff. |
However , the major problem is the fact she is in a position to enforce the law , but she chose to blatantly violate that law. Honestly, there are at least 5 other staff members at Langdon who have or are presently doing the same thing. Campbell ran a corrupt school. |
Don't you lawyers have some real work to do? |
Again, I have to ask, why would ANYONE want to go to DCPS in the first place?
|
MYOB |
I have to ask, why are you reading a thread over and over about reporting DCPS students if you are so turned off by DCPS? Just start a thread entitled "Why would ANYONE want to go to DCPS in the first place?", see what responses you get, and be done with it. You're obviously either a masochist or just a regular PITA that you keep showing up with that question. |
I just need to vent on this topic for a minute. This morning I dropped my daughter off at a very popular, well regarded charter school. She was 30 minutes late for school because we had to run in to the doctor's office first thing this morning. While I was dropping her off, an SUV with Maryland plates dropped off three children at school and then proceeded to throw her car's trash out the door into the curb as she drove off. How do I about reporting her? My daughter didn't recognize any of the kids because they were older. do i describe the car and the kids to the principal? BTW, my daughter was appalled at the trash throwing and ended up picking up the stuff she had dropped and throwing it away.
This is the same school where last year, with the principal in the room, a child making a class presentation on the Chesapeake Bay watershed asked the rhetorical question "How many of you live in MD, VA or DC?" And a few kids said "me!" when the child asked about Maryland. Irritates the heck out of me. |
Next time whip out your cell and take a photo of the car with the MD tags. Get the kids in the frame if you can. Getting the trash dumping isn't necessary, but really would be the "F you!" cherry on top of the ice-cream of disdain. |
If you're comfortable, go directly to the principal and make a report. Don't be surprised if nothing is done. You may want to follow up and ask how it was handled. There is absolutely no accountability for schools who don't monitor residency. That is beginning to change. There was just a thread on here with the name and number of a contact person to address this to. I just want to thank you for moving forward with putting in a complaint. Many people complain (on DCUM) and do nothing. Our kids (DC residents) are being shut out of school in the city. That hurts all of us. |
Almost as good as the MD plated car I saw today with a "My child is a shining star at Doar Performing Arts PCS". Registration was current, by the way. Took a photo and it's on its way to the charter board. |
