I would but I don't have a sitter

I would, but my 3 year old just went to bed. Maybe I should wake her up in an hour, call it a nap, and head on up!

Same here we could make it a playdate! I'm sure nobody will mind.

See you there! She's a little crabby but I'm sure she'll rally.

Op I would totally do this

I say same. I have kids who have always been night owls. They are far from the average DCUM kids who go to bed at 6 pm. LOL you all would be moritfied to know, when my oldest was about 2 years old, she was sitting in the waiting room of a police station with me and a friend. Friend was bailing her bf out of jail. it was 2 am. And you know what? Not ONE person gave a crap. Mine went to friends houses so i could visit, and she learned to sleep wherever she went. And she is none worse for the wear having gone through all that. Kids adapt better than others.

I'm not sure the fact that no one in a police station at 2 a.m. noticed/cared about your kid is an indication of good parenting. Are those people really your parenting models?

I don't buy it. Its one thing to have your kid along in an emergency situation; another to deprive them of sleep because you have to "live your life."

\Sleep is as important to the developing child as FOOD.

you're right: i don't matter. but your kid does. and by depriving her/him of sleep, you;re going to have a child who has more behavior issues, more learning problems, and more mood issues. if that's what you want to maintain your lifestyle, so be it. i work with a lot of low income families and i find your attitude prevails and leads to a cycle of failure.

LOL Doesnt matter if you buy it or not because it really doesnt matter to me. See, to me, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. So I would go out to eat, have a great time and not give a crap what joe smoe has to say on the matter. I may see/hear you for a matter of an hour and after that, I dont have to see you ever again. LOL

my kids are happy and well adjusted. They do not have behavior issues, learning problems or mood swings. LOL Go tend to yours and I will tend to mine

You mean the people in lock-up didn't pass judgment on your parenting skills? Kudos to you, PP. Be sure to tell your kid that story...she could probably use it in her "how I overcame adversity" essay on her college application.

OP- here's someone who agrees with you! It's also someone who thinks it's okay to drag a 2 y/o along to jail at 2 a.m. I think it's perfectly okay to take a kid to a nice restaurant at a reasonable hour (i.e., 7:00), but I would never take my kid to a jail.

T-minus 20 minutes until these rude fools show up at the restaurant. I'm sure OP will be back tomorrow complaining there was no quality child care at the coat check for them to drop their precious snowflake.

Anyone want to give a report from Ruth Chris???
Anonymous
Someone should call the restaurant and make up a story to see if there's a family with a toddler there. Too bad my nine year old is sleeping, bc he'd do it in a heartbeat.

I'm totally kidding. I'm not advocating crank calling Ruths Chris. I'll wait for the op to do her superior dance tomorrow.

I was hoping someone would be live blogging this.

Ahh... OP, you should have just gone to Guapos at 5:30 p.m. like the rest of us in Bethesda. I might be smelling like fajitas, but our DCs are asleep in bed and hubby and I are going to ring in the new year with our own fireworks.

How'd your evening work out for you?

How surprising that a person whose kids are night owls would have a friend that was in jail! And that PP is proud of this is even funnier. Yes we are all so uptight! Take your kids to the lock up! They'll be visitin mommy and daddy there soon, anyway! They'll be fine. It'll be a story to share in the prison yard later, after all.

I just spewed bubbly from my nose. So funny.

I can't believe someone on this thread actually checked Open Table about 10 p.m. reservations at Ruth Chris. And others wanted to call the restaurant and warn them of the incoming toddler. I bet OP has had quite a cackle. DCUM loser moms at their finest!
