Would You Be Upset if We Take Our Three Year Old With Us to Dinner Tonight for New Years Eve?

OP you are CRAZY but I see you have talked yourself into believing that this is going to fly. Good luck!

Seems to me the bigger issue is whether you think it's appropriate for your children to see adults sloshed and carrying on.

Which Ruth Chris?

OP can swing by Caddies or Union Jacks after dinner with the tot. I'm sure the clubbing crowd would love to get down Gangham style with the wee one.

Is Traxx still open? Back in the day that's where the cool kiddies danced.

I would but I don't have a sitter

I would, but my 3 year old just went to bed. Maybe I should wake her up in an hour, call it a nap, and head on up!

Same here we could make it a playdate! I'm sure nobody will mind.

Otherwise suck it up and myob

Op I would totally do this

I say same. I have kids who have always been night owls. They are far from the average DCUM kids who go to bed at 6 pm. LOL you all would be moritfied to know, when my oldest was about 2 years old, she was sitting in the waiting room of a police station with me and a friend. Friend was bailing her bf out of jail. it was 2 am. And you know what? Not ONE person gave a crap. Mine went to friends houses so i could visit, and she learned to sleep wherever she went. And she is none worse for the wear having gone through all that. Kids adapt better than others.

OP: Fifth Column is WAY 1990's - Josephine is the place to go - or 18th street lounge - that place still rocks, especially on new years - and they have candles and lots of christmas lights - your DD would love it; i'm sure she'd be charmed with the atmosphere and the twinkly lights and be on her best behavior because, you know, she got two naps - if you're going out with a 3 year old, go BIG!

I don't buy it. Its one thing to have your kid along in an emergency situation; another to deprive them of sleep because you have to "live your life."

\Sleep is as important to the developing child as FOOD.

But she is used to go out with us and know what kind of behavior is expected. We are prepared to leave if, for what'd er reason, she does not behave.

Wow you are another fucking idiot! Even worse than Op.

you're right: i don't matter. but your kid does. and by depriving her/him of sleep, you;re going to have a child who has more behavior issues, more learning problems, and more mood issues. if that's what you want to maintain your lifestyle, so be it. i work with a lot of low income families and i find your attitude prevails and leads to a cycle of failure.
