Yup, this could be the plan. |
That's why I said move Magruder to Region 4 to make it 4 schools. They are close enough to Richard Montgomery and Rockville. And how do you think QO feels - we cannot attend Poolesville now because Damascus lobbied and got changed to Region 6. We have not a single school with strong candidates in Region 5 other than QO. Region 6 has Clarksburg, Poolesville, Northwest and Damascus. Or maybe they should move QO to Region 4 and have just Gaithersburg, Watkins Mill, Magruder and Wootton in Region 5 so region 4 can have the 4 schools you are talking about. |
That sounds like even more reason that Darnestown ES should get zoned for Poole MS. The sup’s current proposal has DES going from Lakelands Park MS (with kids who are ultimately zoned for QO) to Kingsview MS (with kids who are ultimately zoned for Northwest HS) to Poolesville HS (in a completely new cluster). Sending DES to Poole MS would at least allow them to establish friendships with kids outside of their very small elementary school before they’re together with them for high school for the first time. As the latest proposal currently stands, it’s an incredibly disjointed and disruptive trajectory for DES, one of the smallest elementary schools in the county. |

There will be Gaithersburg residents at Crown in the current plan including kids from Fields Road, Rosemont, and DuFief (which is in Gaithersburg) |
How many? |
Any school that is really affected by boundary changes (or this case) would have been vocal in opposition. The rest of us think it is fine. |

You have absolutely no idea how college admissions work if you think a "renaming" will confuse colleges. |
Think about the regional model. Every testimony is against it. There are like 1000 posts about this on this board, and I believe I’ve only seen less than 3 posts fully embraced the current pan-out. So what? They have a predetermined agenda and BOE are basically trump’s cabinet. Zero spine and zero interest. |
Because many on the BOE desire higher office and need to toe the line. |
yup similar to what is happening currently - if it doesn't affect you, it's fine. |
This. Other schools have worse buildings but they aren’t as well organized or demanding. Schools should be fixed based on priority, not how loud a PTA is. The problem is they compare their school with Whitman (for real, years ago at a BOE meeting a Wootton mom put up a slide with Wootton and Whitman side by side saying Wootton isn’t a rich school, Whitman is). Visit some other areas outside your bubble. If MCPS is deciding what makes the best sense for THE MOST students in MCPS, it’s not building another new high school on the current site of Wootton. There is nothing more financially irresponsible than that, no matter what this community says. |
