Talk about an idiot…how else do you define middle class if not by income. The family that earns the average income is by definition middle class. |
I recall a stabbing at the British International school in DC like 5 years ago. This shit happens everywhere. |
I posted earlier that my first job in this area had a mix of people who had gone to local privates and publics, various colleges, but there we were all in the same job, making essentially the same income, in similar cost and type housing, and significant others also doing regular jobs. In other words, it didn't matter. |
Much more rare in private schools. But I am sure if you spend enough time researching you can find a few. It’s a daily thing in MCPS. |
| 110k is not middle class in DC, it is lower class. |
There are actually plenty of good public schools left. They just aren’t inside the beltway. |
That’s an absurd statement and you know it. |
Uhhh…that is absolutely not lower class. It’s literally the definition of middle class in DC. |
I am outside the beltway. Our schools are “the bear” but the still suck. |
*best |
middle income is not the same as middle class, which is based on lifestyle, values, etc. It would be better if we adopted a more British usage of the term “middle class” which honestly requires more like at least an upper middle class income to achieve, at least in the DMV. |
What are you babbling about. A middle class lifestyle kind of sucks…you most likely rent because you can’t afford to buy…your vacations are at best driving to Ocean City for a week…that’s middle class. |
Maybe it’s Maryland? I’m not in Maryland and our schools don’t have the issues posters are complaining of. But we don’t really have low income families. |
The other poster is just making a ton of shit up. The schools in MD they are referencing are perfectly safe, located in wealthy areas and have strong academics. If you do a simple google search you will find one incident from 5 years ago. |
Well I didn’t need any more reasons to choose public school, but avoiding parents like that PP could definitely be added to the list. |
