Political Discussion
Civil discourse is fine. Fox spews outright lies. Lies from the white house podium. Lies in congressional hearings. Compromise is a dirty word. If little kids get shot and boom cares then all these lifers can get shot and we won't care. |
He has not done what he can from the standpoint of making sure that there are no loopholes in gun control. |
| From a lot of these comments, and from recent events in Charlotte and elsewhere. People have lost their humanity and empathy. I'm scared of the world we live in. People should be able to have verbal discussions and differences in opinion without the fear of being shot. Something is terribly wrong in this country and it's not just the guns. It's the mindset and a total disregard for human life. Because of these recent events, I've decided to seek certification to conceal carry for myself and every other member of my family this year, plus get private lessons. |
| Why are people acting like he’s already dead? They got him quickly to the hospital. |
This is some more of what he said: "The Second Amendment is there, God forbid, so that you can defend yourself against a tyrannical government. And if that talk scares you-- wow, that's radical, Charlie, I don't know about that. Well, then you have not really read any of the literature of our Founding Fathers. Number two, you've not read any 20th century history. You're just living in Narnia. By the way, if you're actually living in Narnia, you would be wiser than wherever you're living, because C.S. Lewis was really smart. So I don't know what alternative universe you're living in. You just don't want to face reality that governments tend to get tyrannical and that if people need an ability to protect themselves and their communities and their families." "Defend yourself against a tyrannical government" is another way of saying (a particular type of) political violence. He supports that. I imagine a lot of us do, even many of the people talking about how violence is never the answer, but Charlie Kirk definitely does. He thinks there's a time and place to shoot people for political reasons. That's not "full of shit" that's the truth. |
Very purposeful division driven by the internet and media. As someone earlier said in the post, it’s getting to the point where people are self radicalizing from the internet. |
Because their social security and medicaid/medicare are getting taken away. |
You realize I'm just quoting Charlie Kirk??? That's hilarious! Charlie Kirk Says Gun Deaths ‘Unfortunately’ Worth it to Keep 2nd Amendment https://www.newsweek.com/charlie-kirk-says-gun-deaths-worth-it-2nd-amendment-1793113 |
GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! YES THAT IS THE ANSWER. |
Right! We shoot them at church or in their classroom like a real American. |
Since when? Trump put armed guards in cities for this exact reason. Charlie Kirk: “It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment” Republicans also supported Alex Jones when he denied Sandy Hook over and over again. People lost their children for god's sake! That was Alex Jone's first Amendment right. My first Amendment right is the same Charlie Kirk getting shot is his own fault. |
To what end? You think you're going to get in a gun fight and just walk away? Or that you'll be able to defend yourself in time? Absurd. |
| Between this and Charlotte the Republicans are going to have a field day. This week is Butler 2.0. |
