Why? We’re not idiots, that’s why. For starters, you don’t stand around your car on a street as dark as Swann at 3 am on a Saturday night. That is insane behavior. Yea, yea, yea — I’m blaming the victim. Whatever. That victim is blaming half of you for government waste, fraud and abuse — and he isn’t discriminating either. He thinks you’re stupid. I think he’s stupid. He thinks you had it coming — I think he had it coming.

And some of us would like to live in a society where you can get in your car without being assaulted and carjacked.

But you do you.

The "they had it coming" people are pathological and morally sick. But it does explain why so many folks in DC just don't give a damn. And it's because of the cynicism and coldness of so many DC residents that a federal takeover is increasingly likely. The crime that progressives take as normal is not normal for the vast majority of human beings.

AKA exactly why DC needs to be federalized. The city is simply incapable of fixing itself.

This is the capital city of of supposedly the most powerful nation on earth. People shouldn’t have to live like the VC, the Taliban or some drone strike could be around every corner.

Everyone on this thread who says the city needs to be “federalized” needs to tell us whether they in fact live here yourselves. Because we know you don’t.

Stick to your lane.

I have lived in the District (Adams Morgan/ Cleveland Park) for a total of 23 years. I 100% support federalization. Our local government officials are simply not bright enough to manage the problems.

+2. I’m a 30 year resident. We’ve demonstrated a complete inability to police ourselves. I’m tired of it.

Do you own property here? I mean I don’t really believe either of you, but let’s say I do. You want to give up governance of your own city? Now?

Yep. Valued at $4 million. You?
I'm not the PP but you sound like you're from here.Anonymous trying to impress anonymous.

There should be zero crime in DC its the capital of our nation. It should be like Singapore.

Good Lord. I've lived here since 1997, minus a few years abroad. DC has crime, sure, but so do most cities. No one is depriving them of a democratically elected government. Trump has tanked a perfectly good economy and destroyed the US research that has been the engine of growth for the US economy for 60 years. No way do I want him and his coterie of empty-headed newscasters in charge of my city.

DC has free pre-school, free pools, and functioning public transit. Red states have none of this.

Dc was way worse in 1995…you are now just old and afraid of your own shadow.

Certain neighborhoods were “way” worse. But the way crime has been allowed to metastasize to all corners of the city represents a complete failure of government.

Again, just complete nonsense. As an example, few people commenting on this thread would ever have gone to the neighborhood where this attack occurred in 1995…not to mention nobody would have ventured to the Union Market, H Street or countless other neighborhoods that most now don’t think twice about venturing.

It’s all revisionist bullshit from people who are now old and afraid…which is what happens with most old people.

💯

I know lots of long time DC residents who are unhappy with crime but very few of them want to invite the Trump administration to “take over”.

Huh, what? This is the US…nearly every city in the US is more dangerous than every 1st world foreign city.

So you agree we should eliminate all guns, right…because it’s nearly impossible to own one in Singapore.

You need to get out of your progressive echo chamber. There are many DC residents who, gasp, are pissed at the crime and blight that has been allowed to overtake DC in recent years.

What are you talking about? Crime in DC last year was down by like 30%. It’s at a historic low.

This thread has been taken over by one liar after another, insisting that they actually live in DC when we all know they don’t

So let’s get this straight…

People are saying Big Balls was a hero because he helped a woman who was being carjacked, and it was his own gf

Some lady who lives in a $4M DC house wants a felon to run the city government.

People want DC to be Singapore and cane people and ban chewing gum.

People are mad that people don’t care enough about Big Balls.

What else am I missing?

Wondering what Big Balls and his girlfriend were doing in Logan Circle at 3am. That's not usually a place a guy would go to with his girlfriend at that time of night, just saying.

No thoughts on why a pack of 15 year olds were out at 3am?

We all know why packs of feral 15 year olds are out at 3am. In this case, to prey on LGBT people in Logan Circle, steal what they can, while their parents are missing or passed out exhausted from work.

Now what Big Balls is doing in Logan Circle at 3am is much more of a mystery.

I hate Trump as much as the next guy, but why are you giving feral 15-year olds a pass and not Big Balls?
