Natali Fani-Gonzalez did a terrible speech at Northwood’s graduation. Blatantly political and deceptive. Why are these folk allowed to speak

Many have been asking that question. Someone either on this post or another post said they are required to be present at the graduations, but no one has answered whether they are required to give a speech. If they are not required to speak, don't have them speak when there is already a keynote speaker, plus the principal of the HS, plus student government leaders. Just imagine how long and tiresome it is for the graduates and guests when you have that many speakers plus have to listen to 500-800 names being called. Trim down the program!

A BofEd member is required to be there to confer diplomas prior to graduates’ names being read and them crossing the stage. It’s truly maddening that it turns into another speech when it really doesn’t have to be.

She talked about the budget but never even brought up the cuts and all the jobs being lost. Instead she said they are cutting taxes on low income families and that she is the biggest champion of families making less than 150k

Teachers are required to attend. Before the ceremony the kids have to line up and be in a specific area so there often isn’t anything for all the staff to do. So they may hang out outside before they need to be at their assigned location. I’m not sure what was odd or sus about their behavior.

How strict are they at the venue about bringing in a water bottle and is the line long at security. Traveling with older guests so would like to know. Thank you.

You should be fine while standing in the long line, but will have to toss it before going through security. Then you can buy overpriced concessions inside.
