Buying your own books is a very common practice in private high schools. Holton, Landon, STA all do it. You can look on Amazon for books but make sure you have the correct edition, particularly English books. Sometimes pagination is different and content has changed. |
I remember being shocked at how much the family needs to pay for on top of tuition too after moving here from abroad. But yea many private high schools do it instead of just providing it to the kids. |

When will incoming new families start to be connected to the class of '29???? |
|
I think you need to reach out to the school if you are a new family. I don’t remember the exact timing because it’s been a few years, but I’m pretty sure we’d been connected to our mentor family by this point. If you haven’t, there’s a chance something is off in that process (eg you fell through the craps for one reason or another). DCUM will not have your answer so best to call school directly. |
*fell through the cracks |
If they wanted to ask their mentor family they would've. This is the third comment saying this people clearly want the answer from DCUM or else they wouldn't have typed it here. Just answer the question instead of talking about the mentor family again. |
How are the kids of 2029 overall academically? Do they use AI a lot? Are they below average? I know that many kids in Gen Alpha have been below grade level because of covid. (Prospective family). |
This. Friends who are incoming at Sidwell and other schools have already had numerous meetups |

Why would you come on a Stone Ridge thread to post about Sidwell and organized meet ups for the class of ‘29? Weird flex. |
Well the chances of getting a straight answer here are pretty slim. I also suggest reaching out to the school. I looked back at my emails and we had already connected with the community by now a few years ago when DD was a freshman. |
Using what as a criteria? |
