Not winning awards? You think this makes up for the issues many girls have faced? Please, an end of year award doesn’t right any wrong. |
Hey SR Admin - read this thread! |
Every parent is on the PTA and there are tons of way to be involved at the school + tons of opportunities to chat with administrators and other parents at coffee. Plus McClusky the upper school head seems entirely accommodating and no nonsense when it comes to that.
Stop complaining online and actually SPEAK UP. We’re a new family for class of 29’ and I’m not worried about this at all. No school is perfect. We’ve never attended a school we’re ALL the kids are angels. But we’ve also never shyed away from speaking up to our class reps etc. when things are off. Something tells me no one has had the cojones to actually tell anyone what’s going on and that’s on you. I won’t stand for my girl being bullied by another group of girls much less that girls mom. You guys are nuts to let this happen as if you have zero control over the school environment. And you wonder why your kids are so afraid of having tough conversations and working out problems with communication. How many parents have actually talked to said evil mom and called her out on her behavior. How many conversations have been had with the parents of the mean girls? Something tells me NONE. This isn’t rocket science. |
You seriously expect SR admin to monitor an anonymous public forum to find out what’s happening at school? How do you people even function at your places of work???? PICK UP THE PHONE AND ADVOCATE FOR YOUR OWN KID. |

This is a shame. Students should be encourage to use AI responsibly. It is a great research and brainstorming tool. We are a SR family and although our daughter is against using it, we have been encouraging her and showing her how to use it to get ideas and cull information from the internet. Yes, it seems the girls have been spooked about using it! And I heard that the would be valedictorian lost that spot due to getting caught using AI. |
NP here. Sadly you will soon find out. If you are a new family, how do you know how things are handled? We have approached admin about various issues, and their way of handling it is to hope it goes away on its own. |
It’s important to know how to use AI. However early brain studies have shown a large decrease of brain activity and development when using, including critical thinking and creativity. We all know what happened with smart phones and social media and how it is damaging to brain and emotional development. While these brains are young force them to do research old school, like primary source analysis and coming up with creative thought main their own. Might be more work but the long term benefit on the individual far outweighs early adpotion by developing minds. |
+1000 We’re new as well and this thread has been ridiculous. |
So why are you still at the school? You always have a choice. If you don’t like how the admin is handling certain things then leave. For everyone reading this thread, not all parents or SR parents are the same. Some SR parents are the problem. Having money and the privilege to attend private school doesn’t always mean you get your way. The world doesn’t work like that. |
They probably stay because it’s the best catholic school, or that it’s far cheaper than the top privates. |
Wish it were that simple. When you try to give a place a chance and realize you only have one or two years left, you tend to decide to stick it out. There is some upside...namely good academics. Socially, however, it has its challenges, and admin seems to want to pretend it is just girls being girls. |
Sorry, but I think that we have the power to make the school environment what we want but it does require that we be actively involved in that process and not expect the school to just “be awesome” on its own. I’m sorry you’ve had a terrible time at SR, but I can assure you if you’re in the class of 2029’ things can be different. Come to the morning coffees, be vocal, chat up the other parents volunteering around school. Man I wish there was a WhatsApp group for us to start getting to know each other. Be positive! Maybe the class of 2029’ just needed some new blood. Middle school is tough all around. Kids are just terrible during those 3 years. It’s sucked for me when I was a kid, it wasn’t always great for my daughter but I am committed to making sure her high school experience is full of wonderful memories. It won’t all be perfect. No one can promise that, but I’m optimistic. |
