You are not crazy for letting this bother you.

You are emotionally very immature and should be dating until you become more of an adult.

Making fun of a man (or, in the case of your target market, a boy) for having something that you perceive as "feminine" should have been left behind in grammar school.

This.

Do y'all have eyes? There's no perception, it is objectively a feminine card.

Do you know what that word even means? Do you know that pink used to be the color for boys and blue for girls? Do you know that it’s insanely misogynistic to believe that feminine things are inferior and stupid and not meant for men? This board makes me fear for humanity as much as watching Fox News does sometimes.

I’m a marketing executive. Such a design is targeting women. Period.

You missed the point. Why TF is it awful for a man to have something marketed to women but cool for women have something masculine? Stop feeding the patriarchy, you turkey.

lol I think he was embarrassed for you because you didn’t realize it was an Amex Platinum. They don’t hand these out to everyone. The annual fee is $700.

That's just crazy. What is the advantage of that? Do you get more cash back or something? If so it's a push unless you use it a lot.
Many places don't like taking Amex either cause they have to pay higher fees as vendors.

I have this same card, flowers and all. It’s a great travel card.
Advantages are it pays for our clear membership, airline credit, uber credit, lounges (including two guests - sadly not OP), credit towards streaming services plus earn points. It’s an expensive and desirable card and the guy was probably surprised to be teased about it.

When was the guy teased?

The insecure guy got embarrassed when two women called his pretty credit card pretty. That is not being teased, that’s a compliment.

Op said “ I don't know if the feminine card bothered me or just his lack of agency.” and you think OP pointed out his “pretty card” with no judgement? The whole thing is ridiculous. Team date.

This thread is making me laugh out loud. My DH has that card. He works closely with American Express at another large corporation, and he was encouraged to select from a few design choices when they were preparing to launch the flower one. My DD was early elementary at the time and so he let her pick, and he lectured her about visual brand identity and design cues. She didn’t listen to anything he said and chose the flowers.

It’s funny when he uses it because he’s a very strait laced, conformist person and his card doesn’t match his personality at all. At restaurants where they take away your card and bring it back for split checks, the waiters often pause before giving it to him. It looks like something a 7 year old would choose. Because one did.

Also it’s weirdly heavy and that bothers me.

Double check that your date does not have a 7 year old daughter that he isn’t telling you about.

Are you implying OP is caring on an affair with your DH lol

No, she’s implying that the date has a child who picked out the card for him.

Is this thread an ad for the credit card ?

Were you the marketing executive at AMEX who oversaw the design of this card? Do you have proof supporting your post, such as a site noting that AMEX designed the card for women? If not, then STFU.

Let us flip this script. Say a man had posted he was on a date with a woman, and she showed him a personal item (e.g., a keychain) with an NFL logo. If he stated that she was too masculine or unfeminine to date for this reason, this board would have gone crazy with posts from women (including the "ick" poster) blasting the guy for such a stupid conclusion.

It's a weird flex for a man though. Says he cannot gather wealth and must borrow it.

You don't use credit cards? Smart people use credit cards and pay them off every month.

The banking system loves you for that also. They make tons of money off each transaction.

Tell me you aren't a Platinum Card holder without..

You pay it off in full. Each month. And get the points, lounges, etc. Cash doesn't do that.

I don't need their gimmicks. Not that poor off. Rather not be data mined and tracked and rather not be helping the big banks make more money off every transaction, and rather help the working class by not using CC's when able.

I'm so sorry he gave you the ick. You wouldn't happen to have his phone number?

You and op are clearly rwnjs or incels having fun here. Team date.

I think OP just misinterpreted the guy’s reaction. Why order a card that would embarrass you to use? The whole premise is silly.
