+1. I agree with conservatives on the transgender issue but still can’t believe Trump threatened a governor like he did.
Just horrible!

It wasn’t a threat. It was a statement of fact. Follow title IX or risk losing federal funds.

Abortion is the same thing. If you don't want one or your religion doesn't support it, great then don't have one. But why do you keep bringing it up to interfere with people who believe differently than you.

These are not late night kitchen table issues. As why the president can focus on those issues.

The governor of Wisconsin is backing a bill to refer to mothers as “inseminated persons.”

Even if it were true, these people are willing to destroy the country they live in for, that? To side with the traitors over such minor BS?

Governor Tim Walz signed a bill and insisted tampon-dispensing machines be installed in boys bathrooms in public schools.

Now THAT is “constantly bringing up trans issues.” I mean, what did Tim expect people to do? Ignore the machines? Come on!

That’s not true. All you people have is lies.

Add it to diaper boy’s long list of lawsuits.

I can. It’s his brand. He’s a piece of shit.

And she’s a woman from a mostly blue state. She makes him mad. She doesn’t kiss his ass.

I'm thrilled we have a person in the oval office who isn't afraid of confrontation.
Quite a breath of fresh air compared to the last one who, we all know, couldn't make an even easy decision.

Was that the time for confrontation?

Also, EOs from the Oval Office are not the law. Laws are passed by Congress.

There are 42.9 million teenagers in the U.S.

Number of athletes in the NCAA: ~500,000
Number of transgender athletes in the NCAA: fewer than 10

This is not a problem that needs addressing. It affects very few women!

Except women who are competing with men for women's athletic scholarships. A man who was mediocre in men's sports takes the athletic scholarship fom the woman who excelled in woman's sports.

Did you watch the video clip? Trump called on the Maine governor specifically. He started it. He could’ve just made a general statement about the need for governors to follow the law, but he chose to be confrontational with a specific governor. Do you think that was the right time and place to have that confrontation? Next was his general tone and demeanor—thuggish. And finally, he ended with an insult about her not winning public office again (she’s in her final term and not eligible to run again). He looks and sounds like a mafia don, even when he’s making a statement of fact.

So the women and girls who lose to men just need to suck it up?

I don’t think so. Democrats will continue to lose until they change position on this issue. Hope you like a decade of Republican rule.

Yes, the women and girls who lose need to suck it up, no matter who they lose to. It's sports, sometimes you lose. Sometimes you get beat by somebody better. Sometimes you get beat by somebody who worked harder. Sometimes you get beat by somebody whose mommy and daddy made more money so they've had personal trainers since they were 10. And sometimes a very small number of players will play against a transgender athlete. And sometimes they will lose. They can deal with it.

Everyone has this misguided idea that transwomen athletes always win, and that's just not true.

Also, I am so sick of people who don't give two craps about women's rights in any other context clutching their pearls when they hear about a trans athlete. You want to help women and girls? Fight for our reproductive rights. Fight for our equal pay. Fight to have those goddamn backlogs of rape kits tested. You care about women's and girls' sports? Fight for equal funding. Volunteer as a coach. Go watch professional women's sports teams.

Jesus. Stop with the faux outrage and obsession with other people's genitals. It's so pathetic.

Stop pretending, you are not a woman.

This issue elected Trump and will continue to elect Republicans. Keep it up!

Mills is fully aware that an executive order can't override a state law. You know what can? A federal law. So if keeping trans athletes out of women's sports is truly a priority for the American people, Congress will pass a bill and Trump will sign it into law. Until then all Trump can do is make empty threats like we saw today.

Okay then it should be fine to change the law so that transgender athletes play in the category of their birth sex and we are done. If it’s such a small issue you don’t care about, then let’s solve the issue. As you always say endlessly, it’s a small number of athletes. Let’s agree they’ll all play in the category of their birth sex and be done with it. Surely you agree?

I keep hearing over and over about how you don’t care, but yet transgender advocates seem to care very much when anyone attempts to pass a law that would do the common sense thing. So, I don’t believe you. Or perhaps it’s you who has the very very sad life?

One is too many. It is unfair, unsafe, and a slap in the face to women. And, a violation of Title IX.
It is interesting that she is choosing this as a hill to die on. It is NOT a popular stance.

This from Feb. 19:
A transgender-identifying male, competing under the name “Katie,” from Cumberland’s Greely High School, came out on top in the girls’ pole vault competition on Monday during the Maine Indoor Track Meet at Bates College.

The student is a biological male who previously competed in boys’ pole-vaulting as a mid-level athlete. Since identifying as a girl, “Katie” has been allowed to compete against female students.

At Monday’s meet, “Katie” jumped 11 feet, a mediocre score for boys, but within just one inch of Maine’s girls’ pole-vault champion, who set an 11-foot, one-inch record last year at the National Pole Vault Summit.

He jumped a full eight inches higher than the second-place winner among the girls.

The student’s participation in the event came in opposition to an executive order issued by President Donald Trump earlier this month threatening to pull federal funds from schools that allow males to compete in women’s sports.

🙄 yes, pp. we know about this incident- it’s the reason for the whole thread. This issues wasn’t plucked out of thin air. It’s all based on the track meet.
