The attitude that he was better than everyone else and was pained by contact with other people. My aunt had a miscarriage and he left her in pain to go play golf. Nobody could figure out why she stayed married to him.

He had a massive heart attack while playing golf. He died and the incredible medical team brought him back. It was truly amazing.

He was a completely changed man. He first thanked his doctors and nurses for a second chance at life, and then he shocked everyone by actually changing. His entire demeanor was different. He became a pleasant and caring man.

He said when he died, he saw God. God said to him that He was sending him back to earth to have a chance to be a good husband, father, and person. Note that my uncle was not religious whatsoever before his heart attack.

I have to believe he saw what he saw and heard what he heard, because for 50 plus years the guy was terrible.

Such a blessing that God tortured your aunt for decades just to give your uncle an redemption arc.

That’s your interpretation.
PP just told the story.

+1

PP was just telling story from her family and not making any claims.

Also the implications are not straightforward

We all have free will. The husband chose to behave badly and wife chose to stay with him. In that generation, women were much more likely to stay married to jerks due to social stigma/ children/ less work opportunities for women. It is mich easier to divorce jerks now.

Correct. So where was God in all this? Nowhere, as usual.

Are you seriously blaming the woman? Also - why amongst all humans would your POS uncle have a chance to redeem himself? Why not someone else? Why focus on him and not the kid with brain cancer?

Do you not understand context?

No was saying her choice had mitigating circumstances.
